INVESTIGATORS WITH THE ARMY ABOUT THIS ARREST. BURLINGTON POLICE HAVE ARRESTED THE MAN ACCUSED OF SETTING A HOUSE ON FIRE. 38 YEAR OLD LEONARD JOHNSON IS IN CUSTODY. OFFICERS SAY HE LIVED. AT THE HOME ON MAPLE AVENUE FOR PEOPLE WERE INSIDE. WHEN POLICE SAY HE SET THE CURTAINS ON FIRE TUESDAY. EVERYONE DID MAKE IT OUT SAFELY AND INVESTIGATORS SAY JOHNSON RAN AWAY AT FIRST AND HE IS NOW IN JAIL.

An arson suspect has been found following a house fire, according to officers with the Burlington Police Department. On Tuesday, just before 4 p.m., Burlington officers were called to a house fire in the 500 block of Maple Avenue, along with the Burlington Fire Department. An arson suspect has been found following a house fire, according to officers with the Burlington Police Department.

    Detectives, after discovering the “suspicious nature” of the fire, began investigating. Detectives identified 38-year-old Lennard Johnson, who lived in the home that had caught on fire, as the suspect.

    Josh Schultz, the lead detective on the case, says police were quickly able to discover how the fire was started.

    On Wednesday night, he was captured by Burlington police and charged with four counts of first-degree arson, which is a charge for each person who was in the house when the fire broke out.

    Johnson was transported to the Alamance County Detention Center and his bond was set at $200,000.
