BUT WE BEGIN WITH BREAKING NEWS RIGHT NOW AT NOON. ASHEBORO POLICE SAY. A FORT LIBERTY SOLDIER RAPED A CHILD. THIS HAPPENED WEDNESDAY WHEN AN OFFICER NOTICED A SUSPICIOUS CAR IN THE CITY PARK AT NIGHT. THE OFFICER FOUND 27 YEAR OLD ERIC TIMOTHY FITCH AND A 13 YEAR OLD GIRL. POLICE SAY EVIDENCE IN THE CAR SUGGESTED FITCH HAD A SEXUAL ENCOUNTER WITH THAT GIRL. OFFICERS ARRESTED FITCH AND HE NOW FACES A NUMBER OF CHARGES. POLICE. SAY THEY MADE SURE THE GIRL DID GET BACK TO HER MOTHER AND THE DEPARTMENT SAYS FITCH IS A MEMBER OF THE U.S. ARMY STATIONED. AT FORT LIBERTY. HE IS BOOKED AT THE RANDOLPH COUNTY JAIL WITHOUT BOND.

An Ft. Liberty soldier is facing several charges including the rape of a 13-year-old girl.The Asheboro Police Department said an officer noticed a suspicious vehicle in a city park early Thursday morning. The officer said he discovered Eric Timothy Fitch, 27, with a 13-year-old girl inside the vehicle.
