THE RESTRICTIONS WERE PUT IN PLACE IN DECEMBER DUE TO THE SPREAD OF FLU, COVID 19 AND RSV IN BURLINGTON THIS MORNING. THE SEARCH CONTINUES FOR A MAN ACCUSED OF SETTING A HOME ON FIRE. INVESTIGATORS SAY THE ARSON SUSPECT, LEONARD JOHNSON, LIVED AT THE HOME ON MAPLE AVENUE AND FOUR PEOPLE WERE INSIDE WHEN JOHNSON SAID THAT THE CURTAINS ON FIRE. WE’RE TOLD EVERYONE MADE IT OUT SAFELY ON TUESDAY, INCLUDING JOHNSON, WHO THEN RAN OFF. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ON HIS WHEREABOUTS IS ASKED TO CALL POLICE OR CRIME STOPPERS. CREWS IN STOKES COUNTY ARE INVESTIGATING THE CAUSE OF A WAREHOUSE FIRE THAT STARTED YESTERDAY AFTERNOON ALONG PINE HALL ROAD AROUND 230. DUKE ENERGY CONFIRMS THE FIRE STARTED IN ITS WAREHOUSE THAT HOUSES ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, AND IT’S A FEW HUNDRED YARDS FROM ITS BELEWS LAKE STEAM STATION, ITS MAIN ENERGY STATION THERE. OFFICIALS SAY THE FIRE IN THE WAREHOUSE IS NOW OUT, BUT THE BUILDING SUSTAINED A LOT OF DAMAGE. MAGE THE FIRE DID SPREAD TO NEARBY WOODS.

A man is wanted for arson after a home was set on fire, according to officers with the Burlington Police Department.On Tuesday, just before 4 p.m., Burlington officers were called to a house fire at 612 Maple Avenue, along with the Burlington Fire Department. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and no one was injured as a result of the fire.The fire department says an occupant slowed the progression of the fire by pouring water on it before firefighters arrived. Firefighters aided in the evacuation of an occupant on the upstairs level of the home.Police describe the home as a boarding house with several occupants. They say there were four occupants in the home at the time of the fire. Detectives identified 38-year-old Lennard Johnson, who lived in the home that had caught on fire, as the suspect. Josh Schultz, the lead detective on the case, says police were quickly able to discover how the fire was started.“Through our investigation, we determined that the resident set the curtains on fire near the front door," he said.Johnson ran from the home and officers are looking for him. Schultz says police have used several methods to try to track Johnson down. “He had fled prior to us getting there, so we tried to contact him, tried to contact him, couldn’t get in touch with him," Schultz said.
