North Carolina woman turns herself in following investigation into Thomasville home fires, Randolph County deputies say
WE’LL HAVE A CLOSE LOOK NEXT. HAPPENING NOW A FORT LIBERTY SOLDIER IS ACCUSED OF RAPING A 13 YEAR OLD GIRL IN ASHEBORO. 27 YEAR OLD ERIC FITCH IS FACING 15 DIFFERENT CHARGES. POLICE SAY THEY FOUND FITCH WITH THE GIRL IN A CAR PARKED IN A CITY PARK. OFFICERS SAY EVIDENCE FOUND INSIDE THE CAR SUGGESTED FITCH HAD A SEXUAL ENCOUNTER WITH THE GIRL. INVESTIGATORS TELL US THAT HE IS A MEMBER OF THE US ARMY, STATIONED AT FORT LIBERTY. HE’S BEING HELD TONIGHT IN THE RANDOLPH COUNTY JAIL WITHOUT BOND. HAPPENING NOW. A DEATH INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY FOLLOWING A BRUSH FIRE IN WILKES COUNTY. THE BOOMER FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO A BRUSH FIRE ON BROOKVIEW DRIVE IN MORAVIAN FALLS YESTERDAY. AND WHILE FIREFIGHTERS WERE PUTTING OUT THOSE FLAMES, THEY FOUND THE BODY OF HOWARD CARLTON AT THE EDGE OF THE WOODS WHERE THE FIRE HAD BEEN BURNING. THE WILKES COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS IT DOES NOT BELIEVE THE 89 YEAR OLD’S DEATH OR THE FIRE IS SUSPICIOUS. AN AUTOPSY WILL BE DONE TO DETERMINE HOW HOWARD CARLTON DIED. GREENSBORO COLLEGE IS FACING A LAWSUIT OVER A DATA BREACH THAT WAS ANNOUNCED LAST WEEK. ACCORDING TO BLOOMBERG, THE SUIT SAYS THE SCHOOL DIDN’T HAVE DATA SECURITY MEASURES IN PLACE IN ORDER TO PROTECT SENSITIVE INFORMATION.     The Randolph County Fire Marshal’s Office responded to both incidents and filed a report with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office due to the fires being “suspicious in nature.”

    Following a long investigation headed by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and the Randolph County Fire Marshal’s Office, the case was presented to the Randolph County Grand Jury in their March 2024 session.

    As a result, a True Bill of Indictment was issued on Joy Ann Frazier for first-degree arson, second-degree arson, and two counts of obtain property by false pretense.

    On Thursday, Frazier, 41, turned herself in to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team at the Randolph County Detention Center.
