MIGHT BENEFIT FROM A LESS STIMULATING ENVIRONMENT AND A LITTLE FURTHER OUT IN THE CALENDAR. NORTH CAROLINA PARKS ARE GETTING READY FOR THE SOLAR ECLIPSE ON APRIL 8TH. ON MONDAY, WE COULD SEE IT ON GRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN. THE PARK SAYS THE BEST VIEWING TIME WILL BE BETWEEN TWO AND 3 P.M. ALL DAILY PROGRAMS THAT DAY WILL RELATE TO SOLAR AND LUNAR ECLIPSES. THERE WILL BE A DESIGNATED AREA TO ENJOY THE VIEW.

In celebration of the unique occurrence, all Daily Programs provided at the park with the exception of Keeper Talks, will have ties to solar and lunar eclipses on April 8. The programming will take place between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and is included in park admission. “We’re excited to mark such a rare phenomenon while connecting it to our programming,” said John Caveny, director of conservation and education for the Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation. “We anticipate the event to be a great educational experience that aligns with our mission to share the wonders of the natural world.”Watch: NOWCAST streaming newscasts In addition to themed programs, there will be a designated area set up to view the eclipse. The location will be determined on the day of the vent to take wind and other factors into consideration. The park said small foldable chairs are welcome at this location but are not allowed on Linville Peak.
