FIRST YEAR, HAPPENING NOW STATE TROOPERS ARE LOOKING FOR THE DRIVER WHO TOOK OFF FROM A CRASH THEY CAUSED THIS EVENING IN ASHEBORO. THE DRIVER IN THAT CAR THAT THEY HIT IS IN THE HOSPITAL WITH SERIOUS INJURIES. THIS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY 64, AROUND A QUARTER TO SIX HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS THE DRIVER OF A BLACK SUV HIT A CAR WHILE TRYING TO PASS THEM IN THE TURNING LANE. THAT DRIVER WENT OFF THE ROAD DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND ENDED UP HITTING A TREE. INVESTIGATORS ARE TRYING TO FIND A LEXUS RX 350 SUV WITH NORTH CAROLINA LICENSE PLATE R, D P 1851. IT WOULD HAVE DAMAGE TO THE BACK RIGHT CORNER AND CORNER PANEL AREA W

Investigators are searching for the driver of a black 2017 Lexus RX 350 SUV that was last seen east on U.S. 64 from Westbury Drive at the time of the crash. According to a news release, State Highway Patrol was called to a report of a crash Wednesday on U.S. 64 near Westbury Drive in Randolph County.

Investigators are searching for the driver of a black 2017 Lexus RX 350 SUV that was last seen east on U.S. 64 from Westbury Drive at the time of the crash.

Investigators said the driver of the SUV attempted to illegally pass another driver who was in a turning lane and crashed into that driver while attempting to pass. The Lexus SUV then drove off.
