Winston-Salem family believes bullet from nearby shooting caused house fire
YEAH. THAT’S RIGHT. IT ALL STARTED BECAUSE SOMETHING CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE BACK OF A HOME ON A PEACH TREE STREET AND WINSTON-SALEM POLICE OFFICERS WERE THERE WITHIN A SECOND BECAUSE THEY WERE ALREADY IN THE AREA RESPONDING TO A SHOOTING. A FRIGHTENING SCENE CAUGHT ON CAMERA, A FAMILY RUSHING TO SAFETY WITH THE HELP OF WINSTON-SALEM POLICE AFTER A FIRE BROKE OUT TUESDAY AFTERNOON. YESTERDAY WAS MY DAUGHTER’S BIRTHDAY. I WENT TO TAKE HER PIZZA AND TO GIVE HER HER GIFT AT SCHOOL. WHEN I GOT THE CALL THAT MY HOUSE WAS ON FIRE, WINSTON-SALEM FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE DISPATCHED AT 12:57 P.M., BUT WINSTON-SALEM POLICE WERE THERE WITHIN SECONDS, HAVING ALREADY BEEN IN THE AREA. I GOT YOUR DOG. CHANTAY MILLER’S BABYSITTER, THREE YEAR OLD SON AND PETS WERE ALL INSIDE. YOU CAN SEE OFFICERS HELPING THEM ALL OUTSIDE. IT COULD HAVE BEEN WAY WORSE. MILLER BELIEVES A STRAY BULLET HITTING AN ATV THAT WAS AGAINST THE BACK OF THE HOUSE CAUSED THE FIRE. THAT’S THE ONLY THING THAT WE COULD SAY THAT HAPPENED BECAUSE THE GAS WAS OFF AND IT WAS UNDER A TARP AND IT WASN’T IN THE SUN, FOUNDER OF HOPE DEALERS OUTREACH, FRANKIE GUEST, IS HELPING THE FAMILY OF FIVE NOW REBUILD. IT’S SAD BECAUSE THEY’RE WAS A MOTHER WHO HAS TO PICK UP THE BROKEN PIECES. WE ALREADY LOST EVERYTHING. ANYTHING WILL HELP. I WOULD JUST BE GRATEFUL FOR ANYTHING. IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE A LOT. I APPRECIATE ANYTHING THAT I CAN GET. AND IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP BY DONATING, YOU CAN REACH OUT TO HOPE AT DEALERS OUTREACH. A LINK TO THEM CAN BE FOUND RIGHT NOW IN THIS. IN THIS STORY ON OUR WEBSITE. AND I ALSO REACHED OUT TO THE WINSTON-SALEM FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR A OFFICIAL CAUSE ON THIS FIRE. AND THEY DID NOT GET BACK TO ME WITH THAT YET. LIVE I
