A DEATH INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY FOLLOWING A BRUSH FIRE IN WILKES COUNTY. THE BOOMER FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO A BRUSH FIRE ON BROOKVIEW DRIVE IN MORAVIAN FALLS YESTERDAY. AND WHILE FIREFIGHTERS WERE PUTTING OUT THOSE FLAMES, THEY FOUND THE BODY OF HOWARD CARLTON AT THE EDGE OF THE WOODS WHERE THE FIRE HAD BEEN BURNING. THE WILKES COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS IT DOES NOT BELIEVE THE 89 YEAR OLD’S DEATH OR THE FIRE IS SUSPICIOUS. AN AUTOPSY WILL BE DONE TO DETERMINE HOW HOWARD CARLTON DIED. GREENSBORO COLLEGE IS FACING A LAWSUIT OVER A DATA BREACH THAT WAS ANNOUNCED LAST WEEK. A new bakery has announced its official grand opening in the heart of historic Old Salem.
