WE’LL HAVE A CLOSE LOOK NEXT. HAPPENING NOW A FORT LIBERTY SOLDIER IS ACCUSED OF RAPING A 13 YEAR OLD GIRL IN ASHEBORO. 27 YEAR OLD ERIC FITCH IS FACING 15 DIFFERENT CHARGES. POLICE SAY THEY FOUND FITCH WITH THE GIRL IN A CAR PARKED IN A CITY PARK. OFFICERS SAY EVIDENCE FOUND INSIDE THE CAR SUGGESTED FITCH HAD A SEXUAL ENCOUNTER WITH THE GIRL. INVESTIGATORS TELL US THAT HE IS A MEMBER OF THE US ARMY, STATIONED AT FORT LIBERTY. HE’S BEING HELD TONIGHT IN THE RANDOLPH COUNTY JAIL WITHOUT BOND. HAPPENING NOW. A DEATH INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY FOLLOWING A BRUSH FIRE IN WILKES COUNTY. THE BOOMER FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO A BRUSH FIRE ON BROOKVIEW DRIVE IN MORAVIAN FALLS YESTERDAY. AND WHILE FIREFIGHTERS WERE PUTTING OUT THOSE FLAMES, THEY FOUND THE BODY OF HOWARD CARLTON AT THE EDGE OF THE WOODS WHERE THE FIRE HAD BEEN BURNING. THE WILKES COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS IT DOES NOT BELIEVE THE 89 YEAR OLD’S DEATH OR THE FIRE IS SUSPICIOUS. AN AUTOPSY WILL BE DONE TO DETERMINE HOW HOWARD CARLTON DIED. GREENSBORO COLLEGE IS FACING A LAWSUIT OVER A DATA BREACH THAT WAS ANNOUNCED LAST WEEK. ACCORDING TO BLOOMBERG, THE SUIT SAYS THE SCHOOL DIDN’T HAVE DATA SECURITY MEASURES IN PLACE IN ORDER TO PROTECT SENSITIVE INFORMATION. A new bakery has announced its official grand opening in the heart of historic Old Salem. The bakery will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the official opening of all its services on Saturday, March 23, at 12 p.m. and is located at 614 S Main St. in Winston-Salem. Lot 63 had its soft launch on Feb. 17 and has been operating from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Saturday, March 23, the bakery will be fully operational — expanding their hours to 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Wilkerson Moravian Bakery will be providing Moravian Sugar Cake and thin Moravian cookies.
