It was reported that a customer who had been through the drive-thru of McDonald's, located at 1829 N. Church St., had seen an additional charge on their bank account.As a result of the investigation, BPD detectives identified the employee as Travis Murphy.Watch: NOWCAST streaming newscastsThe information officers received indicated that Murphy, who did work in the drive-thru, took the customer’s card and made a charge to his personal Square account. On Monday, he was arrested at his home in Burlington and charged with one count of identity theft and one count of obtaining property under false pretense. A McDonald’s employee has been charged for skimming card information while working the drive-thru, according to officers with the Burlington Police Department.

On Feb. 29, the Burlington Police Department was contacted by McDonald’s management after an employee was accused of skimming card information while working the drive-thru. It was reported that a customer who had been through the drive-thru of McDonald's, located at 1829 N. Church St., had seen an additional charge on their bank account.

As a result of the investigation, BPD detectives identified the employee as Travis Murphy.

The information officers received indicated that Murphy, who did work in the drive-thru, took the customer’s card and made a charge to his personal Square account.

On Monday, he was arrested at his home in Burlington and charged with one count of identity theft and one count of obtaining property under false pretense. Murphy, 39, was taken to the Alamance County Detention Center, where his bond was set at $25,000.
