Madison woman wins $200,000 from North Carolina Education Lottery

Madison woman wins $200,000 from North Carolina Education Lottery
ALL RIGHT, LAINEY, THANK YOU. NOW TO THE HORRIFIC STORY THAT HAS CAPTURED THE NATION’S ATTENTION THIS WEEK. THE US NAVY SAYS IT DETECTED AN ANOMALY SUNDAY THAT WAS LIKELY THE TITANS FATAL IMPLOSION. MEANWHILE, A DEBRIS SITE WAS FOUND ON THE OCEAN FLOOR NEAR THE TITANIC’S WRECKAGE TODAY. AND THE FIVE PEOPLE ON BOARD ARE PRESUMED DEAD. CHRIS WYNN SHARES WHAT WE KNOW RIGHT NOW. AFTER FOUR DAYS, AN INTERNATIONAL SEARCH EFFORT THAT COVERED AIR AND SEA HAS ENDED IN TRAGEDY. A REMOTELY OPERATED VEHICLE MORE THAN TWO MILES BELOW THE SURFACE, MAKING A GRIM DISCOVERY ENDING HOPES OF FINDING THE FIVE PEOPLE ON BOARD ALIVE. THE DEBRIS FIELD IS CONSISTENT WITH A CATASTROPHIC IMPLOSION OF THE VESSEL. A TWEET SHARED THE FIRST NEWS DEBRIS FOUND ABOUT A THIRD OF A MILE AWAY FROM THE TITANIC WRECKAGE. THE COAST GUARD SAYS AN ROV LOCATED FIVE MAJOR DEBRIS PIECES ON THE OCEAN FLOOR. FIRST, A NOSECONE, THEN A PART OF THE VESSEL WHERE PASSENGERS WOULD HAVE BEEN. WE FOUND THE THE FRONT END BELL OF THE PRESSURE HOLE. THAT WAS THE FIRST INDICATION THAT THERE WAS A CATASTROPHIC EVENT. THE COMPANY THAT OPERATED THE TITAN SAID IN A STATEMENT THEY BELIEVED ALL LIVES ABOARD WERE SADLY LOST, INCLUDING OCEAN GATES CEO, A TITANIC EXPLORER AND ADVENTURER WHO HAD BEEN TO BOTH POLES AND A FATHER AND SON DUO. THE STATEMENT WENT ON TO SAY, THESE MEN WERE TRUE EXPLORERS WHO SHARED A DISTINCT SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE. THE COAST GUARD SAYS MORE INVESTIGATION IS NEEDED, BUT DEBRIS SUGGESTS THOSE BANGING SOUNDS PICKED UP TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY BY SONAR DID NOT COME FROM THE TITAN CALLING FOR HELP. ONE FRIEND OF VICTIM PAUL HENRY NAGEL, SAID A MARINE EXPLORER ONCE DESCRIBED ANOTHER CATASTROPHIC IMPLOSION LIKE THIS. HE SAID FOR THE CREW, IT WAS JUST LIKE A LIGHT SWITCH WAS SWITCHED OFF. THEY DIDN’T EVEN REALIZE WHAT WAS HAPPENING. THEY DIDN’T SUFFER. IN BOSTON, I’M CHRIS WYNN REPORTING. TO GREENSBORO NOW WHERE THE FBI IS INVESTIGATING AFTER A GREENSBORO POLICE OFFICER SHOT AND KILLED SOMEONE AFTER A CALL ABOUT A SUSPICIOUS PERSON. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT SAYS THE OFFICER SHOT THEM AFTER THEY DISPLAYED A GUN. OUR LOUIE TRAN REPORTS NERVOUS, SCARED BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, LIKE I SAID, THERE’S US. WE HAVE OUR MAMA HERE. EARLY THURSDAY MORNING, A SHOOTING IN GREENSBORO ON TUSCALOOSA STREET LEFT NEIGHBORS IN SHOCK. GREENSBORO POLICE SAY AN OFFICER SHOT AND KILLED A PERSON LAST NIGHT. I WAS IN BED SLEEPING AND WE I WOKE UP AND I SAW LIGHTS. I WAS LIKE, OH, CLOCK. POLICE INITIALLY RESPONDED TO THE SCENE FOR A CALL ABOUT A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE WHILE SEARCHING THE AREA. POLICE SAY THE OFFICER SAW A PERSON WALKING IN THE STREET WHEN THE OFFICER APPROACHED THE PERSON. POLICE SAY THE PERSON PULLED OUT A GUN. THE OFFICER FIRED THEIR GUN FROM INSIDE THEIR POLICE VEHICLE. THE PERSON WAS TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL WHERE HE LATER DIED. TWO NEIGHBORS TELL ME THE SHOOTING HAPPENED, TOO CLOSE TO HOME AND THEY WANT TO MAKE SURE HOME IS A SAFE PLACE FOR THEM. WE TALKED ABOUT PUTTING SOME CAMERAS UP, MORE LIGHTS, MORE LIGHTS AROUND, AROUND THE THE HOUSE. AND THAT WAS LOUIE TRAN REPORTING THE IDENTITY OF THE PERSON WHO WAS SHOT AND KILLED HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED YET. THE OFFICER INVOLVED IN THE SHOOTING HAS BEEN PLACED ON ADMINISTRATIVE DUTY PER STANDARD PROTOCOL. GUILFORD COUNTY HAS RELEASED DETAILS ON A CORRECTIVE ACTION PLAN FOLLOWING THE TRAGIC DEATH OF THREE CHILDREN IN A HOUSE FIRE. THE KIDS DIED IN THE FIRE ON GRIMSLEY STREET BACK IN DECEMBER AND THEIR MOTHER WAS CHARGED WITH CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT, ALONG WITH THE CASE INVOLVING THAT FAMILY, THE STATE FOUND GUILFORD COUNTY WAS FAILING TO INTERVIEW CHILDREN IN NUMEROUS CASES. THE STATE IS NOW DEMANDING BETTER STAFF TRAINING, INCREASED OVERSIGHT AND MORE PARTNERSHIP WITH COURTS. THE GOAL IS TO MAKE SURE THAT EACH AND EVERY DAY WE HEAR FROM THE COMMUNITY. WE ALSO LOOK AT INFORMATION TO SEE WHERE OUR GROWTH OPPORTUNITY AND OUR PAIN POINTS ARE AND THAT WE REMAIN ADAPTABLE AND THAT WE CONTINUE TO GROW AND ALSO MAKE INVESTMENTS TO ENSURE THAT WE CAN COME THROUGH ON OUR COMMITMENT TO MAKE SURE PEOPLE THRIVE AND THAT THEY ARE SAFE AND THERE WERE ALSO ISSUES IN HOW THOROUGHLY THE COUNTY WAS ASSESSING SAFETY IN THEIR HOMES AND HOW THE COUNTY MADE DECISIONS AND THEIR ASSESSING ITS WINSTON-SALEM POLICE HAVE CHARGED FOUR SUSPECTS AND TWO ARMED ROBBERIES. BOTH THE FORSYTH COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND THE WINSTON-SALEM POLICE DEPARTMENT HELPED OUT IN THESE INVESTIGATION, TELLING WXII THAT THESE CRIMES OFTEN INCREASE IN THE SUMMER MONTHS. ZACHARY NOW IS CHARGED WITH THE ROBBERY AT NEIGHBORS GAS STATION ON UNIVERSITY PARKWAY AND ADAM CAMPBELL, TRINITY INGRAM AND JADON FLOYD ARE ACCUSED OF AN ARMED ROBBERY AT THE SPEEDWAY ON SOUTH HAWTHORNE ROAD. I HOPE FOLKS UNDERSTAND THAT WE’RE NOT GOING TO TOLERATE THAT AND WE’RE GOING TO DO OUR JOBS AND TAKE PEOPLE OFF THE STREET WHO THINK THEY’RE GOING TO GO AROUND ROBBING OUR HEARTS. THE CRIME IN AND OF ITSELF IS REALLY IT TENDS TO BE ISOLATED AND IT’S IT’S NOT WIDESPREAD. AND THERE REALLY ISN’T A JUST AN OVERALL GENERAL CONCERN FOR THE PUBLIC WHEN THEY’RE WHEN THEY’RE OUT ENGAGED IN ACTIVITY. BOTH CRIMES DID TAKE PLACE TODAY. SENATE REPUBLICANS ROLLED OUT SURPRISE CHANGES TO THE STATE’S NEW ABORTION REGULATIONS TODAY, TWEAKING A LAW THEY PASSED LAST MONTH. THIS JUST TEN DAYS BEFORE IT GOES INTO EFFECT. THE MOVE COMES AS A JUDGE WEIGHS BLOCKING KEY PARTS OF THE LAW WHILE A FEDERAL LAWSUIT RUNS ITS COURSE. ONE OF THE CHANGES DELETES LANGUAGE FROM THE ORIGINAL ABORTION BILL THAT SEEMED TO LIMIT DRUG INDUCED ABORTIONS TO THE FIRST TEN WEEKS OF A PREGNANCY INSTEAD OF 12 WEEKS. THE STATE LEGISLATURE GAVE ITS FINAL VOTE TO PASS A BILL BANNING TRANSGENDER WOMEN FROM PLAYING IN WOMEN’S SPORTS AT SCHOOLS. TODAY, THE BILL IS NOW ON GOVERNOR COOPER’S DESK FOR HIM TO SIGN OR VETO. EVEN IF HE DOES VETO IT, THOUGH, REPUBLICANS HAVE ENOUGH VOTES TO OVERRIDE THAT VETO. AT LEAST 22 OTHER STATES HAVE NOW BANNED TRANS ATHLETES FROM PARTICIPATING IN SCHOOL SPORTS CONSISTENT WITH THEIR GENDER IDENTITY. OUR LAWMAKERS SAY IT’S TIME TO REGULATE THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY IN NORTH CAROLINA, A HOUSE BILL PASSED THE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE YESTERDAY, WHICH WOULD MAKE IT SO THAT CBD PRODUCTS CANNOT BE SOLD IN SERVINGS MORE THAN 200MG. IT ALSO ADDS REQUIREMENTS TO VENDORS SELLING CBD PRODUCTS. BETH WOOD, WHO WAS CONVICTED OF A HIT AND RUN CHARGE AFTER CRASHING A STATE OWNED VEHICLE, IS SEEKING A FIFTH TERM AS NORTH CAROLINA STATE AUDITOR. WOULD A DEMOCRAT WAS CONVICTED IN MARCH. SHE SAID SHE HAD BEEN ATTENDING A HOLIDAY GATHERING IN DECEMBER BEFORE CRASHING HER CAR INTO A PARKED CAR. SHE SAYS THE CHARGE DOES NOT AFFECT HER ABILITY TO BE STATE AUDITOR. THE STATE AUDITOR ACTS AS A WATCHDOG TO EXAMINE GOVERNMENTAL FINANCIAL AFFAIRS. THE US HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES VOTED THIS EVENING TO POSTPONE THE VOTE TO IMPEACH PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN. THE REPUBLICAN CONTROLLED HOUSE VOTED TO SEND A RESOLUTION TO IMPEACH PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN TO A PAIR OF COMMITTEES, AND THIS DELAYS A VOTE THAT HAS CREATED MASSIVE HEADACHES FOR SPEAKER KEVIN MCCARTHY. THE MATTER HAS BEEN REFERRED TO THE HOMELAND SECURITY AND JUDICIARY COMMITTEES. WELL, WAKE FOREST ALSO GOT TO SEE ONE OF THE TRIADS MOST RECOGNIZABLE PRO ATHLETES TONIGHT, CHRIS PAUL’S MEMOIR, 61 LIFE LESSONS FROM PAPA ON AND OFF. THE COURT CAME OUT ON TUESDAY, AND TONIGHT, HIS BOOK TOUR MADE A STOP AT WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY. THE BOOK IS ABOUT HIS LATE GRANDFATHER, NATHANIEL JONES. FIVE TEENS MURDERED JONES IN NOVEMBER OF 2002, THE DAY AFTER CHRIS SIGNED HIS NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT TO PLAY AT WAKE FOREST. FIVE DAYS AFTER THE CRIME, CHRIS SCORED 61 POINTS IN A BLOWOUT WIN FOR WEST FORSYTH HIGH SCHOOL AGAINST PARKLAND, ONE POINT FOR EACH YEAR OF HIS GRANDFATHER’S LIFE. HIS MOTHER SAYS THE PROCESS HAS BEEN TOUGH FOR CHRIS REGARDLESS OF WHERE WE ARE, WE WE ARE RELIVING THIS STORY. SO, YOU KNOW, WE’RE REOPENING A WOUND. BUT THIS IS A GOOD TIME. MEAN THAT THIS THIS WILL BE A THIS WILL BE GREAT ALREADY THIS WEEK CHRIS HAS BEEN ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA.
