HAPPENING NOW, THE FBI IS CURRENTLY INVESTIATING AFTER A GREENSBORO POLICE OFFICER SHOT AND KILLED A PERSON DURING A CALL ABOUT A SUSPICIOUS PERSON. OUR LOUIE TRAN IS NOW LIVE THERE ON THE SCENE AT TUSCALOOSA STREET. LOUIS, WHAT CAN YOU TELL US THIS AFTERNOON. YEAH, ABOUT AN HOUR AGO, SBI WAS INVESTIGATING THIS SCENE RIGHT BEHIND ME, WHICH WAS TAPED OFF EARLIER. GREENSBORO POLICE SAY THAT AN OFFICER SHOT SOMEONE WHEN THAT PERSON PULLED OUT A GUN. POLICE SAY THEY RECEIVED A CALL THIS MORNING JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT ABOUT A REPORTED SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE ON TUSCALOOSA STREET WHEN AN OFFICER BEGAN SEARCHING FOR THE VEHICLE. THAT OFFICER SAW A PERSON WALKING IN THE STREET. POLICE SAY THE OFFICER APPROACHED THE PERSON AND THAT’S WHEN THE PERSON PULLED OUT A GUN. POLICE SAY THE OFFICER FIRED THEIR GUN FROM INSIDE THEIR POLICE VEHICLE. THE OFFICER BEGAN RENDERING AID UNTIL EMS ARRIVED. THAT PERSON WAS TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL WHERE THEY LATER DIED. I SPOKE WITH TWO NEIGHBORS WHO DESCRIBED WHAT THEY SAW THIS MORNING. I WAS IN BED SLEEPING AND WE I WOKE UP AND I SAW LIGHTS. I WAS LIKE, OH, COPS. SO AND THEN YOU WOKE ME UP AND I WOKE HIM UP. AND THEN WE CAME OUT NERVOUS, SCARED BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, LIKE I SAID, THERE’S US. WE HAVE OUR MAMA HERE. WE TALKED ABOUT PUTTING SOME CAMERAS UP, MORE LIGHTS, MORE LIGHTS AROUND AROUND THE THE HOUSE. THE IDENTITY OF THE PERSON WHO WAS SHOT AND KILLED THIS MORNING HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED YET. AND THE OFFICER INVOLVED IN THIS SHOOTING HAS BEEN PLACED ON ADMINISTRATIVE DUTY PER STANDARD PROTOCOL

Greensboro police said a man is dead after being shot by an officer early Thursday morning.

Police said in a news release that officers were called to the 1000 block of Tuscaloosa Street at 12:12 a.m. to investigate a suspicious vehicle.

According to police, the officer who responded approached a man who was walking in the street, and that person showed the officer a gun.

Police said the officer then fired their weapon from inside their police vehicle, shooting the man in the street.

The officer began rendering aid until more officers and EMS arrived, police said.

Police said the man who was shot was taken to a hospital where medical personnel pronounced them dead.
