Anchor/ReporterDaVonté McKenith is an Anchor/Reporter at WXII 12 News. He is from Charlotte and graduated from Appalachian State in 2012.
After four years in radio, DaVonté entered the television broadcast industry at KHGI-TV in Kearney, Nebraska. His journey took him to Great Falls, Montana, at KRTV/KXLH and back to Nebraska at Hearst-owned KETV in Omaha, before coming back to North Carolina.
In his free time, DaVonté loves live music, cooking, social gatherings with friends and a nice day at the beach. He's always on the go. If it's a summer day, you can probably find him cruising the lake on a boat. You just can't beat those days with clear Carolina blue skies!
DaVonté has always been glued to the kitchen. His favorite food? Food that brings the laughter and people together.
Going to school at Appalachian and working in Montana, DaVonté’s love for the outdoors grew. From the thrill of whitewater rafting and camping — to the relaxation of biking or sitting on the beach with a good read, if it's a good day to be outside, DaVonté will take full advantage.
DaVonté’s favorite part of working in the media world is breaking news and getting information out through the multiple mediums we utilize. With a "digital first, broadcast second" mindset, it has helped keep up with the everchanging times.
