Kalen's social worker, Karla Swaim, has known Kalen for several years, working closely with him. She says Kalen has autism and is mostly nonverbal, and he's working extensively on speech therapy and comprehends what others say to him."He talks more and more, we're learning words, aren't we? He met WXII 12's Audrey Biesk at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham so he could enjoy an afternoon of playing.

Kalen's social worker, Karla Swaim, has known Kalen for several years, working closely with him. She says Kalen has autism and is mostly nonverbal, and he's working extensively on speech therapy and comprehends what others say to him.

"He talks more and more, we're learning words, aren't we? He loves being around people, he loves being around children," Swaim said.

He likes to show love by helping to do things or by giving hugs. Kalen loves basketball and playing with other children. Swaim said he also loves clothes and having his hair done.

Kalen will do best and thrive with a patient family.
