Winston-Salem city planners look to extend greenway network
POLICE MISCONDUCT. BACK HERE AT HOME, CITY PLANNERS ARE WORKING TO MAKE WINSTON-SALEM A BIT EASIER TO TRAVEL BY BIKE OR BY WALKING. THEY WANT TO EXPAND THE GREENWAY NETWORK AND THEY DO WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. I’M EXCITED ABOUT THIS. PLANNERS HAVE COME UP WITH FOUR PROPOSALS TO EXTEND THE SALEM CREEK GREENWAY TRAIL FROM MARKETPLACE MALL ALL THE WAY TO FORSYTH TAX. IF YOU’RE FAMILIAR WITH THAT AREA. I KNOW I LOVE THIS TRAIL. YOU KNOW, THERE ARE SEVERAL BARRIERS, THOUGH, IN BETWEEN, INCLUDING BUSY ROADS, CREEKS. THE CITY PLANS TO WORK WITH THE DOT TO CREATE A NEW TRAIL TO MAKE THE GREENWAY MORE ACCESSIBLE AND CONNECT MORE LOCATIONS. SO RIGHT NOW, THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THOSE THOSE NEIGHBORHOODS WEST OF PETERS CREEK PARKWAY, THEY EITHER HAVE TO BIKE OR WALK PAST THEM. SOME REALLY BUSY STREETS IN SILAS CREEK AND PETERS CREEK PARKWAY, OR THEY HAVE TO DRIVE TO THIS THIS LOCATION OR ANOTHER TRAILHEAD IN THE SYSTEM TO ACCESS THE TRAIL NETWORK. AND CITY PLANNERS ARE NOW GETTING FEEDBACK FROM RESIDENTS ABOUT THIS. EACH PLAN LAYS OUT THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES, COSTS AND POTENTIAL IMPACTS ON YOUR BIKE BUSINESSES, AND YOU CAN TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT THE OPTIONS AND LET THE CITY KNOW WHAT YOU THINK. WE HAVE THE LINKS TO THAT INFORMATION IN THI
