OFFICERS FOUND 47 YEAR OLD ERIKA BURDEN WITH WHAT POLICE ARE CALLING FREE BLEEDING TRAUMA ON WINSTON-SALEM JUST BEFORE EIGHT LAST NIGHT. BURTON DIED FROM HER INJURIES TODAY AND THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TELLS US THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT SHE WAS ASSAULT IN WITH A 62 YEAR OLD WOMAN WHO WAS HIT BY A CAR WHILE WALKING IN WINSTON-SALEM. JIM HAS DIED. POLICE SAY LOU PATE WAS WALKING ACROSS NORTH LIBERTY STREET IN A DIMLY LIT AREA OUTSIDE OF A CROSSWALK WHEN SHE WAS HIT BY A VEHICLE. 11 DAYS AGO. IT’S UNCLEAR AT THIS TIME IF CHARGES WILL BE FILED AGAINST THE DRIVER. THIS MARKS THE FOURTH TRAFFIC FATALITY OF THE YEAR, COMPARED TO THREE AT THE SAME TIME LAST YEAR. TWO GARBAGE TRUCKS COLLIDED HEAD ON IN YADKIN COUNTY AND ONE OF THE DRIVERS IS NOW FACING CHARGES. WE FIRST BROUGHT YOU THIS CRASH YESTERDAY. IT HAPPENED MONDAY MORNING ON HIGHWAY 67 IN BOONVILLE. TROOPERS TELL US AFTER THE GARBAGE TRUCKS COLLIDED, ONE OF THEM HIT A DITCH. THE OTHER HIT A TREE. BOTH DRIVERS WERE TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL. ONE WAS SERIOUSLY HURT. HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS MICHAEL WESLEY IS CHARGED WITH EXCEEDING A SAFE SPEED. WALNUT COVE FIREFIGHTERS, MEANTIME, STILL INVESTIGATING AN EARLY MORNING BUILDING FIRE. THIS HAPPENED ON MAIN STREET AFTER 6 A.M. FIREFIGHTERS BLOCKED OFF PART OF MAIN STREET WHILE CREWS WORKED TO CLEAR THE AREA.

Deputies spotted the stolen SUV in Iredell County and attempted to stop the vehicle, but Osorio-Cruz refused to stop, resulting in a car chase.Catawba County officers assisted by deploying stop sticks, which punctured one of the SUV's tires, forcing him to swerve.Osorio-Cruz lost control of the vehicle and came to stop. Crhistian Jovani Osorio-Cruz, 23, was accused of stabbing a person before stealing their vehicle and fleeing.

Deputies spotted the stolen SUV in Iredell County and attempted to stop the vehicle, but Osorio-Cruz refused to stop, resulting in a car chase.

Catawba County officers assisted by deploying stop sticks, which punctured one of the SUV's tires, forcing him to swerve.

Osorio-Cruz lost control of the vehicle and came to stop. He then tried to flee on foot, but was quickly taken into custody.

He was issued a $250,000 bond for the following charges:

  • Felony flee to elude arrest with motor vehicle
  • Felony possession of a stolen vehicle
  • Felony assault with a deadly weapon on a government official
  • Misdemeanor fail to stop for siren
  • Misdemeanor driving while license revoked
  • Misdemeanor reckless driving to endanger
  • Misdemeanor speeding
  • Misdemeanor driving infractions

He was also issued a $650,000 bond from Carteret County for the following charges:

  • Attempted first-degree murder
  • Assault inflicting serious bodily injury
  • Assault with a deadly weapon
  • Larceny of a motor vehicle

Osorio-Cruz's total bond is $900,000.
