Two Republic Services garbage trucks collide head-on, troopers say
AFTER THE GUNFIRE. NEW INFORMATION ON A STORY WE FIRST BROUGHT YOU THIS TIME YESTERDAY. A GARBAGE TRUCK DRIVER FACES CHARGES AFTER COLLIDING WITH ANOTHER GARBAGE TRUCK IN YADKIN COUNTY. IT HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY 67 IN BOONVILLE. HIGHWAY PATROL TELLS US THE DRIVER WAS HEADING WEST WHEN HE CROSSED THE CENTER LINE AND HIT THE OTHER TRUCK HEADING EAST. THE DRIVER OF THE FIRST TRUCK IS CHARGED WITH DRIVING LEFT OF CENTER AND EXCEEDING A SAFE SPEED. HE’S CURRENTLY IN THE HOSPITAL WITH SERIOUS INJURIES.

The westbound truck went off the road and hit a ditch, while the second truck went off the road and hit a tree.The operator of the westbound truck was identified as Michael Wesly, 60. He was taken to the hospital for serious injuries.Wesly was charged with driver left of center and exceeding a safe speed.The operator of the eastbound truck was also hurt in the crash, but not seriously injured. The collision happened on Highway 67 in Boonville around 7:44 a.m., according to troopers.

A garbage truck, headed west, traveled left of center and collided head-on with a second garbage truck.

The westbound truck went off the road and hit a ditch, while the second truck went off the road and hit a tree.

The operator of the westbound truck was identified as Michael Wesly, 60.

He was taken to the hospital for serious injuries.

Wesly was charged with driver left of center and exceeding a safe speed.

The operator of the eastbound truck was also hurt in the crash, but not seriously injured. They are not facing any charges at this time

Both garbage tucks were from Republic Services.
