OUR STAFF IS ALREADY BEEN TRAINED. >> DESPITE THE YEAR-LONG DELAY, TANGER HAS MORE THAN 16,000 SUBSCRIBERS TO ITS BROADWAY SERIES. >> I THINK THE FACT THAT THAT 16,000 IS QUITE A NUMBER FOR A NEW BUILDING THAT HAS NOT EVEN OPENED. THAT IS THE BEST RECIPE FOR HAMILTON COMING TO GREENSBORO SOON AS POSSIBLE. >> THE DATES FOR THE THEORIES ARE NOW SET WITH WICKED SET TO OPEN FOR THREE WEEK RUN LESS -- NEXT OCTOBER. >> WE ARE THRILLED TO FINALLY SEE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL, SEE THAT WE HAVE A POSSIBILITY OF LOOKING FORWARD TO AN OPENING FOR BROADWAY IN OCTOBER AND MAY BE DISHONEST -- MAYBE THE SUN IS SHINING ON US. >> THE CITY IS HOPEFUL THAT TANGER WILL HELP BRING PEOPLE BACK DOWNTOWN AND REVIVE THE ECONOM

Tanger Center announces show list, prepares for full capacity inaugural Broadway season
Audiences will be able to watch live theater in person this fall during the Tanger Center's first Broadway season. The Tanger Center announced its revised schedule Wednesday, with "WICKED" starting off the calendar of performances in October. The theater previously postponed its grand opening events at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The full list of rescheduled dates has shows running through September 2022 with a break in the summer of 2022:WICKED: Oct. 6 to Oct. 24, 2021Beautiful - The Carole King Musical: Nov. 9 to Nov. 14, 2021Dear Evan Hansen: Dec. 7 to Dec. 12, 2021Come From Away: Dec. 28, 2021, to Jan. 2, 2022Disney's The Lion King: Feb. 23 to March 6, 2022Mean Girls: Sept. 13 to Sept. 18, 2022The Tanger Center has a limited number of season tickets available here. Audiences can keep up with the Broadway season schedule by clicking here.The Tanger Center said it plans to follow all state and local health guidelines at its upcoming live events. The venue has taken steps in response to the pandemic, like an air filtration system.At this point, the Tanger Center said it believes it will be able to open at capacity.Matt Brown, who runs the Tanger Center for the city, said running Broadway shows with anything less than full capacity audiences doesn't make sense economically.Brown said there are more than 16,000 subscribers to the Broadway series. The hope is it might be enough to entice Hamilton."That 16,000 is quite enough for a new building that hasn't even opened -- that's the best recipe for Hamilton coming to Greensboro as soon as possible," Brown said.The city said it is also excited for shows to bring people downtown and revive its economy.
