THERE ARE A LOT OF FAST-MOVING DEVELOPMENTS TODAY CONCERNING THE CORONA VIRUS AND THIS MORNING FORSYTH COUNTY TAKING EXTRA STEPS TO LIMIT EXPOSURE TO THE VIRUS AND THIS MOVE COMES AFTER TO CITY WORKERS. ONE OF THOSE WORKERS ALSO HAS A CHILD WHO IS EXPOSED TO THE VIRUS AND IS SHOWING SYMPTOMS. WELL TODAY NEW STATE GUIDELINES GO INTO EFFECT TO SLOW THE SPREAD OF CORONAVIRUS GOVERNOR ROY COOPER IS URGING EVERYONE IN NORTH CAROLINA TO AVOID LARGE GROUPS OF PEOPLE AND EMPLOYERS SHOULD MAKE PLANS TO ALL EMPLOYEES TO WORK FROM HOME IF IT’S POSSIBLE. WELL AS OF THIS MORNING THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IS COUNTING 15 REPORTED CASES OF CORONAVIRUS 14 OF THOSE CASES ARE PRESUMPTIVE POSITIVE. MEANING FURTHER TESTING IS REQUIRED BY THE CDC. THE 15TH CASE HAS BEEN CONFIRMED POSITIVE BY THE CDC ALSO TO SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO OUR EAST WILL BE CLOSED ON MONDAY ORANGE COUNTY SCHOOLS WILL CLOSE FOR THREE WEEKS DURHAM PUBLIC SCHOOLS WILL CLOSE FOR AN INDEFINITE AMOUNT OF TIME. NO SCHOOL SYSTEMS HERE IN THE PIEDMONT TRIAD HAVE ANNOUNCED CLOSINGS. WELL SOME CHURCHES AND CONGREGATIONS ARE MAKING THE CALL TO CANCEL SERVICES THIS WEEKEND LEADERS IN THE LATTER-DAY SAINTS AND UNITED METHODIST FACE. I’VE RECOMMENDED THAT THEIR CONGREGATIONS CANCEL FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS OTHER CHURCHES ACROSS THE TRIAD ARE ALSO POSTPONING WORSHIP THIS WEEKEND ALL THE ORGANIZERS OF BLUE GRASS AND ROOTS MUSIC FESTIVAL MERLEFEST ARE EXPECTED TO DETAIL DETAIL TODAY. WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN TO THAT. EVENT THE FESTIVAL STARTS APRIL 23RD AT WILSON COMMUNITY COLLEGE. THE MERLEFEST TEAM SAYS THE DECISION WILL COME OUT BY THE CLOSE OF BUSINESS TODAY 8:04 WITH NO AC C TOURNAMENT. THERE WON’T BE A TOURNAMENT TOWN FESTIVAL IN GREENSBORO SUPPOSED TO BE TOMORROW BEFORE THE ACC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME TONIGHT’S KC AND THE SUNSHINE BAND CONCERT AT WHITE OAK AMPHITHEATRE IS ALSO CANCELLED ALONG WITH TAILGATE ZONE ACTIVITIES AT PIEDMONT AND THE HIGH POINT FURNITURE MARKET IS BEING PUSHED BACK UNTIL JUNE IT WAS SLATED TO START IN LATE APRIL. THE CHANGE IS IMPACTING THE CITY FROM THE LOSS OF REVENUE COMING IN FROM RENTALS TO PRIVATE SOCIAL EVENTS AND HOTEL BOOKINGS LAST TIME THE FURNITURE MARKET

As a result of government recommendations against gatherings of more than 100 people in North Carolina, the grand opening events for the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts in Greensboro have been postponed. The following events have been affected:Private Donor Receptions (March 18 and 19)Ribbon Cutting Ceremony (March 20)Josh Groban concert and VIP Reception (March 20)Tony Bennett concert and VIP Reception (March 21)Jay Leno in concert (March 22)Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro Board Meeting & Breakfast (March 23)Guilford College Bryan Series presents Sally Field (March 24)Greensboro Symphony School Performances (March 25, 26 & 30)Greensboro Symphony ‘Name that Tune’ Gala (March 26)Greensboro Symphony Masterworks (March 28)Public Open House (March 29)The Tanger Center said staff is working diligently to attempt to reschedule all of the above events.Ticketholders are encouraged to hold on to their tickets until additional information is available regarding rescheduled dates.As updates become available, Tanger Center said revised event and ticketing information will be posted here.
