Hot Wheels roller coaster, Barbie Beach House: Mattel Adventure Park to open in 2026
Developers announced Wednesday that the country's second Mattel Adventure Park will open in 2026.
The family-friendly themed entertainment destination is coming to Bonner Springs, Kansas, and is expected to break ground later this year. Mattel Adventure Park is already under construction at its first location in Glendale, Arizona.
The theme park is expected to feature themed Hot Wheels roller coasters such as the Hot Wheels Bone Shaker: The Ultimate Ride and the Hot Wheels Twin Mill Racer.
Also coming are attractions featuring Thomas the Train, specifically Thomas & Friends: World of Sodor, which includes five family-friendly experiential attractions and rides including a dedicated indoor play space for little adventurers.
Mattel Adventure Park will also be home to the larger-than-life Barbie Beach House, featuring an interactive retail experience where fans can build their customized Barbie set in the Barbie Dream Closet Experience, which uses hologram technology to bring Barbie to life right before guests’ eyes.
Organizers say the attraction will feature a Barbie-themed flying theater and rooftop restaurant and bar.
Parkgoers can also check out He-Man vs. Skeletor Laser Tag, Masters of the Universe, in which fans can fight for Eternia in a massive laser tag arena in the likeness of the iconic Castle Grayskull fortress.
Organizers also said Mattel Adventure Park will offer a mini golf experience featuring 18 holes inspired by Magic 8 Ball, Pictionary and other beloved Mattel games, plus a larger-than-life custom climb UNO structure that delivers nostalgia and adventure for all ages.
“Mattel Adventure Park Kansas City will bring our iconic brands to life with epic roller coasters, family-friendly attractions, an immersive theatre, themed dining, and so much more,” Josh Silverman, Chief Franchise Officer at Mattel, said. “We are thrilled to expand these themed entertainment destinations and invite new fans to experience the world of Mattel in all-new ways as they create lasting memories with loved ones.”
Organizers say more details are expected in the coming weeks on the theme park's website.
The press release from Mattel did not provide a specific location for the future theme park. However, the Economic Development Coordinator for the City of Bonner Springs said the city is considering a major project, including an amusement park and entertainment district, near 118th Street and State Avenue. However, the project is not yet a done deal.
