OUTSIDE. JUST HAVE TO TRY TO GET AWAY FROM THE WIND. WE TRIED. YEAH, BUT I TELL YOU WHAT, THE SUNSHINE JUST FEELS SO GOOD AND IT WAS A DIFFERENT FEEL AS YOU WALKED OUT AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS AFTER SUNRISE, BECAUSE THAT WAS SO COLD. WE WERE STILL IN THE 30S, BUT NOW THE TEMPERATURES HAVE REALLY BEEN SHOOTING UP. WE’RE IN THE 60S ALREADY WHERE WE SHOULD BE FOR AFTERNOON HIGHS, SO WE’RE GOING TO BE CLOSER TO 70 THAN THOSE LOW 60S TODAY. ALL RIGHT. WE DO HAVE AIR QUALITY CONCERNS IN ADDITION TO THE RED FLAG WARNINGS THAT ARE GOING UP, BECAUSE WE DO HAVE SOME FIRES AND SMOKE THAT MIGHT LIFT OUR WAY, THAT PARTICLE POLLUTION COULD BECOME AN ISSUE FOR US. BUT FOR THE MOMENT, THOSE WINDS ARE HELPING TO MIX THINGS OUT AND CREATING THE WILDFIRE DANGER. SO IT’S A RED FLAG WARNING TODAY. NOW THROUGH 8:00. THIS ENCOMPASSES MOST OF THE TRI NORTH AS WE GO INTO VIRGINIA. AND YOU CAN SEE THE DEVELOPING FIRES COULD SPREAD VERY RAPIDLY. YOU DO WANT TO POSTPONE ALL OF THAT OUTDOOR BURNING FOR YOU TODAY UNTIL 8:00. YOU CAN SEE THE COUNTIES INCLUDED BURLINGTON AS WE GO NORTH THROUGH REIDSVILLE, DANVILLE, SPARTA AND MARTINSVILLE ARE SPARTA JUST OUTSIDE OF THAT. BUT YOU’VE NOW GOT A WIND ADVISORY THAT HAS COME UP HERE WITH GUSTS POSSIBLE TO 50 MILES AN HOUR. SO THAT’S THE LATEST ADVISORY FOR YOU. AND UNTIL 8:00, WE’VE GOT THAT WEATHER ALERT FOR RED FLAG WARNINGS. GUSTS SO FAR, 29 MILES AN HOUR IN DANVILLE. JUST STARTING TO SEE THE WINDS COME UP AT TIMES IN SPARTA AT ABOUT 16 MILES AN HOUR. BUT WE CAN EXPECT TO SEE SOME GUSTY CONDITIONS AS WE GO THROUGH THE DAY AND ALONG THOSE MOUNTAIN PASSES AND THE RIDGES, TOO, FOR THE WINDS. SO DEFINITELY GOING TO BE BREEZIER THAN WE HAD YESTERDAY. TEMPERATURES 62 IN BURLINGTON ALL THE WAY TO 63. IN YADKINVILLE WE FEEL PRETTY GOOD OUT THERE RIGHT NOW. 55 IN SPARTA COMING ALONG NICELY NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE, AT LEAST WITH TEMPERATURES. WE COULD DO WITHOUT THE WILDFIRE SMOKE, BUT IT IS STARTING TO ENTER THE PICTURE. WE’VE GOT WILDFIRES BURNING DOWN SOUTH OF US FROM THE SOUTHEAST, AND THIS IS GOING TO PICK UP SOME OF THAT PARTICLE POLLUTION AND LIFT OUR WAY. SO WE’LL BE WATCHING FOR ANY OF THE BRUSH FIRES TOO. THAT MIGHT GET GOING. WE’VE ALREADY HAD A COUPLE OF REPORTS OF THAT EARLIER AND NOW YOU CAN SEE IN SALISBURY CHARLOTTE AREA AND THEN TROY DEALING WITH PARTICLE POLLUTION. AT THIS HOUR, OUR WINDS ARE GOING TO BE STRONGER. MIGHT MIX SOME OF THOSE THINGS OUT SO WE DON’T HAVE AS MUCH POLLUTION ON THE SURFACE, BUT WE’LL BE WATCHING OVER THE NEXT TWO DAYS FOR YOU FOR SURE. 70 DEGREES IS YOUR FORECAST TODAY AND YOUR 55 YESTERDAY. AND WE’VE GOT TEMPERATURES OUT THERE A 19 DEGREES BACK IN 1923. WE’RE REALLY GRATEFUL THAT WE REALLY HAVEN’T HAD MAJOR EXTREMES. LAST WEEK’S UPPER 70S WAS ABOUT AS CLOSE AS WE GOT TO SOME EXTREME TEMPERATURES, AND 68 DEGREES TO NEAR 70 TODAY. WINDY, THOUGH IT IS VERY DRY. SO A REMINDER WE’RE POSTPONING ALL OUTDOOR BURNING. THIS INCLUDES YOUR FIRE PITS IN THE BACKYARD. ANYTHING THAT COULD MAKE A SPARK TODAY COULD REALLY CREATE THAT BRUSH FIRE SITUATION. AN FIFTYS FOR FOLKS IN THE MOUNTAINS TO NEAR 60 AS WE’RE ALREADY THERE IN SOME SPOTS AS WE GET YOU INTO THE WEEKEND, FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY IS LOOKING RAINIER AND WE MAY HAVE TO INCREASE OUR RAIN CHANCES FOR SATURDAY AFTERNOON. LOOKING AT THOSE RAINFALL TOTALS, WE MAY GET SOME GREAT BENEFICIAL RAIN ANYWHERE FROM A HALF AN INCH TO AN INCH BY THE TIME WE END SATURDAY EVENING, AND IT DOES LOOK LIKE IT’S GOING TO EXTEND FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON, WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS, LIFTING IN. YOU CAN SEE HERE ON OUR HOUR BY HOUR FORECAST FROM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH THE EVENING. WE STILL HAVE LINGERING SPOTTY SHOWERS BY LATE AFTERNOON, BUT CLEARING JUST IN TIME FOR OUR SUNDAY TEMPERATURES ON SUNDAY SHOULD BE ABLE TO REBOUND INTO THE UPPER 50S TO LOW 60S. AND BY MONDAY WE DO LOOK AT THOSE TEMPERATURES. STILL COMFORTABLE IN THE 50S AND LOW 60S AS WELL. SO WE HAVE A REALLY NICE FORECAST AHEAD, EXCEPT FOR THE RAIN CHANCES THAT WE HAVE DEVELOPING NOW ON FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY, WE’LL MAKE THAT AN IMPACT. DAY 262 DEGREES ON SUNDAY TO NEAR 62 MONDAY. WE’VE GOT GOOD SUNSHINE MIXING IN WITH THE CLOUDS SO EARLY PART OF NEX
