WE HAVE SOME DRY CONDITIONS, WINDS. AND LOOK AT THE RAIN THAT’S GOING TO BE COMING UP FOR THE WEEKEND. IT DOES LOOK LIKE SOME OF THAT SHOWER ACTION MAY EVEN HOLD OFF FOR OUR FRIDAY. WE’RE GOING TO BE ADJUSTING YOUR FORECAST AS WE GO THROUGHOUT THE DAY. BUT LET’S TAKE A LOOK. YOU CAN SEE HERE WE’VE GOT OVER THE NEXT FOUR DAYS, TEMPERATURES THAT ARE WARMING TODAY, MID TO UPPER 50S, ALL THANKS TO THE WINDS THAT WILL SHIFT A LITTLE LATER THIS AFTERNOON TO THE WEST AND SOUTHWEST. AND THAT’S GOING TO TAKE OUR TEMPERATURES UP. IT ALSO KEEPS US FROM GETTING TO COLD OVERNIGHT, ALTHOUGH WE’RE CLEAR AND HAVE GOOD RADIATIONAL COOLING, WE WILL SEE THOSE WINDS PLAYING A PART, AT LEAST IN MODERATING THIS AIR MASS. AND THEN WE GET IT BACK UP TO 68 DEGREES TOMORROW. MILDER BREEZY AND THEN NICE ON THURSDAY WITH 61 RAIN CHANCES INCREASING TOWARD FRIDAY. ALSO IN THE FOOTHILLS, WE SEE THIS TOO, WITH 57 DEGREES TOMORROW OR TODAY, RATHER 67 TOMORROW. AND THEN WE’VE GOT THOSE LOW 60S WITH RAIN CHANCES OF COURSE, FOR FRIDAY. SO HEADING INTO LATE NIGHT AND INTO SATURDAY TOO, WE MAY SEE THIS DEVELOP. SO CHILLY OUT THERE. 49 DEGREES EXPECTED IN THE FOOTHILLS TODAY. AND THAT’S ABOUT WHERE WE’RE HEADING RIGHT NOW. YOU’RE AT 43 DEGREES IN GREENSBORO, SO SLOW TEMPERATURE WARM UPS AT THE MOMENT. BUT A LITTLE LATER WE SHOULD BE GETTING YOU BACK INTO THOSE 50S. SO MID TO UPPER 50S THIS AFTERNOON WE’VE GOT WINDS THAT BECOME STRONGER OUT OF THE SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST AND IN THE MOUNTAINS FROM 35 TO NEAR 46, HOPEFULLY WE’LL SEE SOME TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 40S BEFORE WE COOL YOU DOWN. JUST AFTER SUNSET. NOW, SOME OF THESE TEMPERATURES DO HAVE A CHANCE TO WARM UP AS THAT WIND SHIFTS. SO WE COULD ACTUALLY STAY WARM FOR FIVE AND INTO 6:00. YOU’RE LOOKING AT 42 DEGREES IN THE FOOTHILLS WITH HIGHS TODAY IN THOSE LOW TO MID 50S AS WELL. AND THEN OVERNIGHT WE DIP YOU DOWN TO ABOUT 35 DEGREES. IT’S GOING TO BE COLDER TOMORROW MORNING. NOT AS COLD AS THIS MORNING BUT COLD AGAIN STILL. AND TALKING ABOUT NEEDING THOSE JACKETS. YOUR 44 IN STOKESDALE 45 IN KERNERSVILLE A COUPLE OF CLOUDS OUT THERE AT THIS HOUR. NEAR 34 DEGREES IN SPARTA. SO YOU’RE JUST ABOVE FREEZING THERE. BUT NOTICE BEECH MOUNTAIN, YOU’RE STILL SITTING AT 26 DEGREES. THOSE HIGHER ELEVATIONS STRUGGLING WITH SOME OF THE TEMPERATURES RIGHT NOW. THIS COOL AIR MASS IS IN PLACE, BUT IT’S GOING TO BE KICKED OUT PRETTY QUICKLY. WE’VE GOT WINDS OUT THERE ANYWHERE FROM 10 TO 15 MILES AN HOUR. THIS IS GOING TO POSE A PROBLEM FOR SOME FOLKS IN VIRGINIA, WHERE WE HAVE A FIRE WEATHER WATCH. JUST A REMINDER REALLY, EVERYWHERE THAT YOU WANT TO WATCH FOR THAT THIS WEEK BECAUSE WE’RE GOING TO HAVE WINDS, DRY AIR AND ANYTHING THAT DOES SPARK UP COULD CAUSE A WILDFIRE TO REALLY START SPREADING MORE QUICKLY. GUSTS OUT THERE 15 TO 30 MILES AN HOUR. AND THOSE HIGHER GUSTS ON THE MOUNTAIN RIDGES. AND THEN EVEN IN PARTS OF THE PIEDMONT, WE MAY SEE SOME GUSTS OF 30 AT TIMES. WE’RE ALSO LOOKING AT THE SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS RIGHT NOW, AS WE MENTIONED, 10 TO 15, YOUR HOUR BY HOUR FORECAST. AS WE GET CLOSER TO THE WEEKEND, WE CERTAINLY BRING IN CLOUDS AND SOME OF OUR FORECAST MODELS WANT TO HOLD OFF ON SOME OF THE SCATTERED SHOWERS UNTIL EARLY SATURDAY UNTIL THE AFTERNOON, BUT WE’LL BE WATCHING FOR THIS AS WE GO INTO THE NEXT FEW DAYS TALKING ABOUT AN IMPACT DAY RIGHT NOW FOR INCREASING RAIN CHANCES LATE FRIDAY, AND HOLDING ON TO THAT FOR PART OF OUR SATURDAY. YOU’VE GOT TEMPERATURES AT 61 ON THURSDAY, AND NOTICE YOUR MORNING LOWS. THEY GO BACK DOWN INTO THE 30S AGAIN TO START NEXT WEEK. SO A LITTLE BIT OF SPRING CHANGE UP HERE. ROLLER COASTER RIDE AS WE GET YOU CLOSER TO SUMMER.
