PLACE FOR SURE. YES, YES, BUT WE HAD A BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND HERE, TOO. YEAH. LOWER 70S. IT WAS GREAT. WE ACTUALLY HAD A GOOD WINDOW OF SUNSHINE YESTERDAY. GOT TO 71 DEGREES LIKE WE DID THE DAY BEFORE. SO YEAH, THINGS, THINGS LOOK NICE. WE HAD A FEW SPRINKLES COME THROUGH MID-MORNING THROUGH ABOUT EARLY AFTERNOON YESTERDAY, BUT THAT WAS ALL THE SUN WAS. THE NICE PAYOFF THAT WE GOT LATER IN THE DAY, TAKING TEMPERATURES NEARLY TEN DEGREES ABOVE THE NORM FOR YESTERDAY AFTERNOON TEMPS TODAY WILL BE CLOSER TO THIS, BUT ACTUALLY BELOW THE NORMAL HIGH OF 62 DEGREES FOR TODAY’S DATE. YOU WOULDN’T KNOW IT BY MORNING NUMBERS. WE’RE STILL SITTING AT 50 DEGREES. THE FIRST WAVE OF SOME COOLER AIR IS BEGINNING TO MOVE INTO THE MOUNTAINS. WE’LL GET A REINFORCING SHOT COMING IN LATER TODAY AND INTO TONIGHT. THAT COULD BRING A FEW RAINDROPS TO THE WESTERN PART OF THE STATE. RIGHT NOW, WE DO HAVE ONE FRONT THAT CAME THROUGH AND BROUGHT A FEW SPRINKLES ON FRIDAY. COME THROUGH. WE DO HAVE THE SECONDARY FRONT THAT IS USHERING IN SOME OF THE COOLER AND WHAT WILL BECOME WINDY CONDITIONS LATER TODAY. WE’VE GOT SOME CLOUDS TRYING TO DRIFT IN FROM THE SOUTH AND WEST, AND YOU CAN SEE A VERY LARGE AREA UNDER A FREEZE WARNING. PARTS OF ARKANSAS ALL THE WAY INTO THE CAROLINAS, ACROSS SOUTHERN AREAS WHERE THE GROWING SEASON HAS BEGUN. OUR TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO DROP QUICKLY BECAUSE THE AIR IS DRYING OUT SIGNIFICANTLY. THE DEW POINTS THAT HAVE CLIMBED INTO THE 50S ARE NOW REALLY DRYING OUT QUICKLY OVER MUCH OF THE STATE, AND IT’S ACTUALLY THAT DRY AIR IS GOING TO HELP PROTECT US FROM GETTING ANY MORE WET WEATHER LATER IN THE DAY. TODAY I’LL EXPLAIN WHAT THAT MEANS IN A MOMENT. NORTHWEST WINDS AT ABOUT 5 TO 15MPH ALREADY TODAY. WE’VE SEEN GUSTS IN THE 20S TO NEAR 30MPH IN MANY OF OUR MOUNTAIN LOCATIONS, DROPPING THE WIND CHILL TEMPERATURE BELOW FREEZING INTO THE MID TO UPPER 20S. THERE. AND WE’RE STARTING TO SEE THOSE NUMBERS COMING DOWN IN THE TRIAD AS WELL. I STILL THINK WE SALVAGE A DECENT DAY, BUT IT WILL BE BRISK AND FEEL VERY DIFFERENT TODAY THAN WE DID OVER THE WEEKEND. AND REALLY EVEN GOING BACK TO LAST WEEK. NORTHWEST WINDS AT 10 TO 20 COULD GUST TO 25. THAT’S GOING TO MAKE THAT 57 THAT WE’RE THINKING ABOUT FOR 4:00 TODAY FEEL COLDER THAN THAT 40S AND 50S. AND THE WIND CHILL COLUMN TODAY. AND EVEN COLDER NORTH AND WEST HIGH OF ONLY 53 DEGREES IN THE FOOTHILLS OF SURRY AND WILKES COUNTIES, WITH WINDS GUSTING 15 TO 20. AND FOR THE MOUNTAINS HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER 40S. TODAY, WITH A BREEZY WIND, WE’LL START WITH SOME CLOUDS AND FINISH WITH SOME SUNSHINE BEFORE MORE CLOUDS RETURN LATE. AND IT’S FROM A SECOND FRONT THAT COMES IN. IT’S GOING TO REALLY USHER IN SOME ARCTIC AIR DROPPING TEMPERATURES INTO THE 20S AND 30S. MORE LIKELY OVERNIGHT. AS WET AS THIS LOOKS, I THINK THE DRY AIR AND THE FACT THAT IT’S GOING TO BE DEVELOPING OVERHEAD AND MOVING EAST OF US, THAT WE’RE LIKELY NOT GOING TO CATCH MUCH OF ANYTHING FROM THIS. BUT THERE IS A CHANCE LATE EVENING THAT OUR EASTERN SECTIONS COULD CATCH A FEW SPRINKLES. I MENTIONED THAT FREEZE WARNING IN PLACE MIDNIGHT TO 9 A.M. IT ONLY INCLUDES MONTGOMERY COUNTY, BUT WE COULD SEE FROST OR EVEN A HARD FREEZE IN OUR AREA LOCALLY, WITH TEMPERATURES COMING DOWN BELOW 30 IN SOME LOCATIONS. THAT’S NOT UNUSUAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. THE TYPICAL LAST FREEZE OR FROST THAT WE SEE IN THE TRIAD IS GENERALLY DURING THE FIRST 11 DAYS OF APRIL, AND YOU CAN ACTUALLY PUSH THAT BACK ALL THE WAY TO THE FIRST TEN DAYS OF MAY. NORTH AND WEST. SO THAT’S WHY I’VE BEEN TELLING YOU FOR A WEEK NOW NOT TO PLANT YET, EVEN THOUGH IT’S BEEN WARM, TEMPERATURES CAN STILL GET COLD. IT’S GOING TO FEEL COLD TOMORROW MORNING. TEENS AND 20S AND THE WIND CHILL COLUMN. AND PRETTY CHILLY FEELING ON WEDNESDAY MORNING AS WELL. BUT BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON OUR TEMPERATURES RALLY PRETTY WELL. WE’RE BACK IN THE UPPER 60S WITH COOL THINGS DOWN A BIT WITH A GOOD FRIDAY RAIN CHANCE SHOULD BE AN
