State didn't back down from the fight in the semifinal matchup, trailing Virginia late in the fourth, but a triple from Michael O'Connell at the buzzer sent the game to overtime. The Pack turned to the big man DJ Burns in OT, finishing with a team-best 19 points to take down the Cavaliers 73-65.
As the top seed, UNC managed to win a back-and-forth battle with Pitt 72-65 to make its first championship game appearance since 2018.
The dynamic duo of RJ Davis and Armando Bacot led the Tar Heels to the victory. Davis with 25 points and Bacot with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
The ACC Championship game will be played Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at Capital One Arena.
