SAINT PATRICK’S DAY WEEKEND FORECAST COMING UP. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU, DYLAN. NOW ON TO YOUR CRIME WATCH GREENSBORO OFFICERS ARE SEARCHING FOR TWO SUSPECTS AT THIS HOUR. THE DEPARTMENT SAYS A FAMILY WAS SITTING IN THEIR CAR LAST NIGHT AROUND 930, WHEN OFFICERS SAY THE TWO SUSPECTS PULLED UP AND BEGAN SHOOTING AT THE CAR. THIS WAS ON WEST VANDALIA ROAD. NOW. NO ONE WAS HURT. THE ALAMANCE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE IS NOW INVESTIGATING A COLD CASE HOMICIDE. DEPUTIES ARE NOW ASKING FOR HELP TO SOLVE HOW LARRY GRAY NEWTON DIED. WE DO KNOW HE WAS KILLED AT HIS HOME IN ALAMANCE COUNTY IN 1998. DETECTIVES ASK ANYONE FOR INFORMATION TO CALL THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND A DIFFERENT INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY AFTER A BODY WAS FOUND IN CREEK AND HIGH POINT. POLICE SAY THIS HAPPENED LAST NIGHT AND RICHLAND CREEK NEAR BRENTWOOD STREET. THE MEDICAL EXAMINER WILL CONDUCT AN AUTOPSY TO FIND THE CAUSE OF THEIR DEATH. AUTHORITIES HAVEN’T GIVEN US ANY MORE INFORMATION AT THIS TIME. RANDOLPH COUNTY DEPUTIES SAY THEY’VE ARRESTED A MAN THEY HAD TO CHASE AND GET OUT OF ORDER. DEPUTIES SAY WEDNESDAY THEY WERE CALLED TO WADDELL’S FERRY ROAD AND SEAGROVE DEPUTIES FOUND WESLEY MARK HUSSEY ARMED WITH A RIFLE. HUSSEY RAN AWAY FROM DEPUTIES INTO THE WOODS. ACCORDING TO THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE. DEPUTIES LATER FOUND HIM IN A COVE IN THE EDGE OF THE RIVER NOW HE FACES MULTIPLE CHARGES, INCLUDING A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROTECTIVE ORDER VIOLATION. HIGH POINT POLICE ARE EMPHASIZING THE IMPORTANCE OF QUICK RESPONSES AFTER THE BREAKING NEWS. WE REPORTED AT NOON YESTERDAY THAT A TEEN IS NOW CHARGED WITH A SHOOTING. EXCUSE ME, WITH SHOOTING A STOLEN GUN INSIDE A GROCERY STORE ON WEDNESDAY. IT HAPPENED AT THE FOOD LION ON WESTCHESTER DRIVE. NO ONE WAS HURT. NOW WE’RE NOW LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE INVESTIGATION INTO THE 17 YEAR OLD SUSPECT. POLICE SAY THEY ARRESTED HIM LESS THAN ONE HOUR AFTER THE SHOOTING. MORE THAN 25 OFFICERS RESPONDED. AND WHENEVER IT’S SOMETHING OF THAT NATURE, OUR CONCERN ALWAYS GOES THAT IT WOULD BE MORE SERIOUS. AND THAT’S WHY, AGAIN, WE RESPONDED LIKE WE DID, LIKE THE TRAIN FOR THE WORST AND YOU KNOW, THAT WAY WE’RE PREPARED WHEN IT’S NOT. OFFICERS SAY THE SUSPECT IS IN THE GUILFORD COUNTY JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER ON A SECURE CUSTODY ORDER. AND AN UPDATE TO THE STORY WE BROUGHT YOU YESTERDAY ABOUT FIVE CHILDREN WHO ESCAPED A HOSPITAL IN RALEIGH. POLICE NOW SAY THEY FOUND ALL FIVE OF THOSE KIDS. A TOTAL OF SEVEN HAD GONE MISSING FROM THE HOSPITAL AT ONE POINT IN RECENT DAYS. THE CHILDREN ESCAPED. HOLLY HILL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL ON TUESDAY. NOW WE DO NOT HAVE INFORMATION ON WHERE THEY WERE. NEW AT NOON, MORE THAN HALF OF PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN NORTH CAROLINA SAY THEY SUPPORT ACTION FROM CONGRESS TO ADDRESS GUN VIOLENCE. OUR NBC AFFILIATE, WRAL, CONDUCTED A POLL WHICH FOUND 90% OF MORE THAN 1000 ADULTS IN THE STATE THINK NORTH CAROLINA SHOULD REQUIRE A BACKGROUND CHECK FOR ALL GUN PURCHASES. ALSO, 81% WOULD LIKE THE STATE TO RAISE THE MINIMUM AGE TO PURCHASE ASSAULT WEAPONS FROM 18 TO 21 YEARS OLD. ANOTHER NEW STUDY FINDS THE CITY OF WINSTON-SALEM IS THE DEADLIEST IN THE COUNTRY FOR RUSH HOUR DRIVING. A GROUP OF INJURY LAWYERS IN LAS VEGAS LOOKED AT DATA FROM 2017 THROUGH 2021, AND AT THAT TIME, 124 PEOPLE WERE KILLED ON THE ROAD. OF THOSE, ONE THIRD HAPPENED BETWEEN 7 AND 9 A.M. AND 5 TO 7 P.M. NOW, THE PROPORTION OF RUSH HOUR FATALITIES IN WINSTON-SALEM IS MUCH HIGHER THAN THE NATIONAL AVERAGE. THE WINSTON-SALEM POLICE DEPARTMENT URGES DRIVERS TO AVOID AS MANY DISTRACTIONS AS YOU CAN. THERE IS AN INHERENT RISK BEHIND DRIVING WITH THE SAFETY AND IMPROVEMENTS IN VEHICLES. A LOT OF OUR MODERN CARS WITH YOU KNOW, AIRBAGS AND SEAT BELTS AND, YOU KNOW, A CRASH AVOIDANCE AND ALL THE THINGS THAT WE HAVE THAT MAKE CARS SAFER. ALSO MAKES DRIVERS LESS ATTENTIVE OR OR LESS CONCERNED OF THE CONSEQUENCES. NOW, THE OTHER CITIES RANKED IN THE TOP FIVE DEADLIEST FOR RUSH HOUR CRASHES ARE SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA. FORT WAYNE, INDIANA.
