A bridge in Greensboro is in dire need of repairs. City officials say pieces of concrete are chipping underneath the Gorrell Street bridge, and it’s causing safety concerns. The bridge crosses over Murrow Boulevard and a greenway where pedestrians walk.

The city is exploring maintenance plans on the types of repairs the bridge will need.
Greensboro's Operations Manager says right now, there are barriers in place under the bridge for safety measures.

"Because of the greenway path here and the amount of pedestrians here, in the small chance that one could fall and be able to come down on a pedestrian, we just wanna be proactive and be able to shield from that," Nathanael Moore, Greensboro's Street Maintenance and Operation Manager said.
Moore said that all the bridges in the city are either being inspected or have already been inspected.
Once his office gets all the maintenance reports for the Gorrell Street bridge, they'll address any findings – and make repairs.
Moore says repairs could take an hour, or even years, depending on the severity of the issues.
