VIOLENCE IN THEIR COMMUNITY. LEE 6:00 HERE ON YOUR WEDNESDAY AT MARCH 13TH. THANK YOU FOR WAKING UP WITH US. I’M JACKIE PASCAL, GOOD MORNING, I’M AUDREY AUDREY BIESK. WE SAY HELLO TO METEOROLOGIST BRIAN SLOCUM WITH A DARK VIEW OUTSIDE BEHIND HIM AS THE SUN DOES RISE. LATER THIS WEEK. BUT MY GOODNESS, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL FORECAST. YEAH, ONCE THAT SUN COMES UP, IT STARTS SHINING STRONG. BRIAN, IT’S GOING TO WARM UP QUICK. IT’S GOING TO BE NICE, BUT THE SUN DOESN’T COME UP FOR ANOTHER 91 MINUTES. SO COME ON LET US DREAM. YEAH I KNOW CRUSH HER DREAM CRUSHER. THAT’S MY NAME. WE GOT A PRETTY CLEAR SKY OVER THE AREA THOUGH, AS CLOUDS ARE BEGINNING TO CLEAR, ESPECIALLY IN OUR WESTERN COUNTIES. TRIAD STILL HOLDING ON TO A FEW EXTRA CLOUDS FIRST THING THIS MORNING. OUR TEMPERATURES, THOUGH STILL SLIPPING, MOSTLY LEE MID 30S ACROSS OUR NORTHEAST CORNER. TRIAD TEMPERATURES ARE KIND OF SITTING IN THE LOW TO MID 40S WITH A FEW WARMER SPOTS, INCLUDING WINSTON-SALEM AND KING. THIS MORNING, 53 IN JEFFERSON, WHERE THE WIND IS BLOWING BUT COOLER IN BOONE, CHECKING IN AT 34 DEGREES. I MENTIONED THE OVERNIGHT CLOUDS. THEY ARE RAPIDLY BEGINNING TO MOVE OUT. THIS IS JUST A WEAK DISTURBANCE IN THE FLOW. IF YOU LOOK AT A WIDE PERSPECTIVE, YOU CAN SEE THE CLEAR AIR THAT IS BEGINNING TO MOVE OUR WAY. CLOUDS TO THE NORTH, CLOUDS TO THE SOUTH. BUT WE’LL HAVE BRIGHT SUNSHINE FOR MUCH OF THE DAY TODAY. WHAT TO WEAR? WELL, THIS IS ANOTHER LAYERING KIND OF DAY. A JACKET TO KIND OF HELP YOU WITH THE MORNING CHILL. BUT AGAIN, PUT IT BACK IN YOUR BACKPACK A LITTLE BIT LATER ON THIS MORNING AS TEMPERATURES WARM QUICKLY GETTING THOSE HIGHS IN THE LOW TO MID 70S LATER THIS AFTERNOON, IT WILL BE COMFORTABLE THIS EVENING, BUT THE AIR IS STILL VERY DRY. IT IS MARCH AFTER ALL, AND SO IT DOES FEEL COOLER QUICKLY EVEN WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE 60S. YOU LOSE THAT SUNSHINE. YOU NEED TO ADD A LAYER PRETTY QUICKLY LATER THIS LATER THIS EVENING. TODAY AGAIN. COOL DAY TOMORROW. FEELING MORE LIKE MID-MAY AS TEMPERATURES SOAR INTO THE 70S. WE’VE GOT A WARM WEEK AHEAD, INCLUDING THE WEEKEND, BUT WE’LL START TO INTRODUCE A FEW SHOWERS FROM TIME TO TIME. I’LL HAVE MUCH MORE ON THAT PART OF THE FORECAST IN JUST A BIT. HERE’S ANOTHER CHECK OF YOUR TRAFFIC THIS MORNING. TRAFFIC IS LOOKING GOOD IN PLACES LIKE THE TRIAD AT THIS TIME. NO MAJOR INCIDENTS HAPPENING AT THIS PARTICULAR HOUR. SAME GOES FOR THE REST OF THE PIEDMONT TRIAD AREA AS WELL. NOW LET’S TAKE A LIVE LOOK OUT THERE. THIS IS I 73. I 840 AT FINDLAY AVENUE IN GREENSBORO. I KNOW THERE’S SOME TRAFFIC ACTIVITY OUT THERE, BUT NOTHING TOO CRAZY AS FAR AS SLOWDOWNS ARE CONCERNED. DRIVE SAFELY OUT THERE AS YOU START YOUR DAY. A GREENSBORO MOTHER COULD FACE LIFE IN PRISON FOR THE DEATH OF HER THREE CHILDREN. TWO ONE YEAR OLDS AND A FOUR YEAR OLD WERE LEFT HOME AONE AND TRAPPED IN A BEDROOM WHEN THAT FIRE STARTED, STURDIVANT HAS BEEN IN PRISON FOR THE LAST 14 MONTHS ON FELONY CHILD ABUSE CHARGES FOR LEAVING HER CHILDREN HOME ALONE WHEN THE FIRE STARTED, INVESTIGATOR SAY THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES GOT A CALL WEEKS BEFORE THE DEADLY FIRE, SAYING THE CHILDREN WERE LEFT HOME ALONE, OFTEN, POLICE SAY STURDIVANT ADMITTED USING THE OVEN TO HEAT HER HOME. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE EXACTLY WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE. 604 NOW A PILOT MOUNTAIN MAN IS IN JAIL THIS MORNING AFTER THE SURRY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS HE SHOT AT DEPUTIES. ACCORDING TO THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE, DEPUTIES WERE CALLED TO THE HOME ON BROOKLYN TRAIL YESTERDAY MORNING FOR A MAN THREATENING TO HARM HIMSELF. STAR CONNOR JOINS US NOW IN STUDIO THIS MORNING STAR. WHAT IS THE POLICE DEPARTMENT’S NEW APPROACH TO CRIME PREVENTION? WELL, COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND LAW ENFORCEMENT AND FIREFIGHTERS MET ON THE BASKETBALL COURT LAST NIGHT AND HOPING TO BRIDGE THE GAP. NOW, THE GAMES WERE A WAY FOR THEM TO FORM A PARTNERSHIP AS THEY WORK TOGETHER TO TRY TO STOP MORE CRIMES. NOW, MANY OF THE PLAYERS, INCLUDING JEREMY PENN, SAY THEY HOPE EVENTS LIKE THIS WILL MAKE MORE PEOPLE COMFORTABLE WITH SPEAKING WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT. WE GET TO SEE EACH OTHER’S FACES. THEY KNOW WHO WE ARE, WE KNOW WHO THEY ARE. YOU KNOW WHAT I’M SAYING? AND I JUST FEEL LIKE IT’S GOOD. IT’S A GOOD OUTREACH.
