Prom season is almost here and Goodwill is making finding that perfect dress a little bit easier.Goodwill Industries of Central North Carolina is hosting its annual shopping event called "Project Prom" at several of its stores.This year, the event is bigger than ever before. "Project Prom is a very fun event that we've been doing for many years," said Triad Goodwill Marketing Director Christine Gillies.It's a way to make sure high school students find that perfect prom outfit at an affordable price."We have long dresses, short dresses, any kind of dress," said Gillies. "And they go from $9.99 to $59.99 — so for less than $60, you can get the dress of your dreams."Usually, the 'Project Prom' event runs at one store for a weekend. This year, it's bigger than ever, with five stores participating the entire month of March."Because of our generous donors, we're able to provide so many beautiful dresses," Gillies said. "A lot of them are new, with tags still on, and they're coming in at a great price — and now we can offer these beautiful dresses to students that may not be able to purchase them."There are also suits available for the men looking for a little something to wear. So far, around 300 dresses have been donated at each of the five participating stores."We're really lucky our donors are so generous, but we are also thankful people shop with us," Gillies said. "Because when you shop with us, 85 cents goes back into our job training programs — so we can provide low to no-cost job training opportunities to people in our community. So, it's really a win-win — you can get a beautiful dress at a great price, while also helping people in the community meet their employment goals."Dresses and suits are still being accepted, and your donation can make all the difference in a high school student's prom experience."If you want to do some spring cleaning and get rid of a bridesmaid dress or one you've been hanging onto, please donate it," said Gillies.
