PARKINSON SAYS HE DIDN’T THINK ANYTHING OF IT AND ACTUALLY KIND OF FORGOT ABOUT IT UNTIL HE CHECKED HIS NUMBERS. THE PENNSYLVANIA LOTTERY SAYS THE JANUARY 6TH RAFFLE AWARDED 6000 CASH PRIZES TOTALING MORE THAN $5 MILLION, INCLUDING JAKE’S 1 MILLION. TODAY, THEY PRESENTED JAKE WITH THAT COVETED BIG CHECK. Jake Parkinson says he never plays the lottery, but earlier this year, he decided to take the chance.The Pennsylvania 26-year-old is thankful for that spur-of-the-moment decision, as he begins the new year as a millionaire. "I mean, I had to be there at that exact second buying it," Parkinson said. "If it was a second later, minute later, minute before, I wouldn't have gotten that exact number. It was pretty cool. It's a once-in-a-lifetime type of thing."The FedEx driver doesn't remember why he decided to buy that ticket, but he's thankful he did. The "New Year's Millionaire Raffle" ticket was purchased at Sheetz on New Castle Road in Butler, PA. The store will get a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. According to the Pennsylvania Lottery, the Jan. 6 raffle drawing awarded 6,000 cash prizes totaling more than $5 million. Lottery officials say the game has created 136 new millionaires, including Parkinson, since it debuted in 2005. On Wednesday, lottery officials presented Parkinson with the coveted giant check. The new millionaire says he plans to pay off his house and invest the rest for an early retirement. "I still can't believe it," said Parkinson. "You always want it to happen but never think that it will happen. And once it happens, I just couldn't believe it."
