ANYONE WITH INFORMATION TO CONTACT LEXINGTON AREA CRIME STOPPERS. ROCKINGHAM COUNTY ELECTION OFFICIALS SAY PEOPLE WERE GETTING ROBO CALLS SPREADING FALSE INFORMATION ABOUT EARLY VOTING. WE WANT TO GO RIGHT TO WXII. 12 KELLY KENDALL. SHE’S BEEN FOLLOWING THIS STORY FOR US TODAY. KELLY, WHAT ARE THESE ROBOCALLS TELLING PEOPLE? KENNY CHRISTINE ROCKINGHAM COUNTY ELECTION OFFICIALS SAY THE CALLS CLAIM EARLY VOTING HAS ENDED DUE TO FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS. NOW WE WANT TO EMPHASIZE THIS IS NOT TRUE. AND ELECTION OFFICIALS SAY THEY WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW THERE ARE STILL TWO MORE DAYS LEFT TO EARLY VOTE. EARLY VOTING IN NORTH CAROLINA IS HAPPENING THROUGH SATURDAY, MARCH 2ND. BUT IN ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, PEOPLE ARE GETTING ROBO CALLS SAYING IT’S ENDED EARLY. I SAID, NO, NO, NO, WE STILL EARLY VOTING IS STILL GOING ON. PAULA SEAMSTER IS THE DIRECTOR OF THE ROCKINGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS. SHE SAYS SHE WAS ALERTED ABOUT THE ROBO CALLS BY A MEMBER OF THE NORTH CAROLINA ELECTION PROTECTION HOTLINE. SHE HAD RECEIVED A COMPLAINT THAT ROBO CALLS WERE GOING OUT TO THE ELDERLY POPULATION IN ROCKINGHAM COUNTY. THAT THE EARLY VOTING HAD ENDED, ACCORDING TO THE HOTLINE, THE ROBO CALLS CLAIMED EARLY VOTING ENDED OVER FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS, BUT SEAMSTER SAYS THIS WOULD NEVER BE THE CASE. WE DON’T SET THESE HOURS FOR EARLY VOTING. THEY’RE PART OF THE LAW AND WE CAN’T JUST STOP EARLY VOTING FOR A LACK OF FINANCE. THE PERPETRATOR BEHIND THE CALLS HAVE NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED, BUT SEAMSTER SAYS THE CALLS HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO THE NORTH CAROLINA STATE BOARD OF ELECTIONS. SHE SAYS HER MAIN OBJECTIVE NOW IS TO CORRECT THE MISINFORMATION. LAST DAY OF EARLY VOTING IS SATURDAY, AND IT’S FROM 8 TO 3. AT OUR FOUR VOTING LOCATION EARLY VOTING LOCATIONS. The Rockingham County Board of Elections was notified on Feb. 29 that robocalls circulating in the county are stating that early voting has ended. Elections Director of Rockingham County Paula Seamster says she was alerted by a member of the North Carolina Election Protection Hotline about the robocalls.

“She has received a complaint that the robo calls were going out to the elderly population in Rockingham County that the early voting had ended," Seamster said.
