North Carolina’s 6th Congressional District race wasn’t decided during Tuesday night’s primary election as the race is still too close to call. Instead, the emerging frontrunners, Republicans Addison McDowell and Mark Walker, could go head-to-head in a run-off, which would take place on May 14 in North Carolina. The projected winner of the race, after claiming victory, will head to Washington, taking over Democrat Kathy Manning’s seat. Walker made this promise hinting towards a runoff during his rally Tuesday night, "We're gonna keep working and getting that done, till we get this thing done in the runoff in May."McDowell had this to say at his campaign, “We’ll regroup and figure out what to do tomorrow, but right now, we’re going to enjoy tonight, and enjoy spending time with my family.”Manning recently gave up her seat, citing “flagrant gerrymandered” districts. She said in part, “If the impending lawsuits are successful and the General Assembly is forced to draw fair congressional districts, I will seek to continue my service to our community.”Manning was first elected in 2020. She was reelected in 2022, following the drawing of a new Congressional map. She was the first woman to represent the 6th District in Congress in more than 30 years. ► Want more election results?
