NIGHTLY NEWS. INVESTIGATORS IN ALAMANCE COUNTY SAY THEY’VE BUSTED A PROSTITUTION RING. SHERIFF SAYS IT WAS RUNNING OUT OF SOMEONE’S HOME. LET’S GO TO MARIA DEBONE. SHE JOINS US LIVE THIS EVENING WITH NEW DETAILS ON THE ARRESTS AND HOW A NEWLY FORMED TASK FORCE PLAYED A KEY ROLE HERE. MARIA. WELL, INVESTIGATORS SAY THE PROSTITUTION OPERATION THAT WAS UNCOVERED IN BURLINGTON IS AN EXAMPLE OF WHY THIS TASK FORCE WAS CREATED, CALLED THE INVICTUS PROJECT. IF YOU’RE GOING TO BE A PERVERT TO A CHILD OR HUMAN EXPLOITATION, WE’RE COMING AFTER YOU. NO QUESTIONS ASKED. WE’RE COMING AFTER YOU. THE TASK FORCE CONSISTS OF THE SBI, HOMELAND SECURITY AND SHERIFFS AND THEIR DEPUTIES FROM ALAMANCE DAVIDSON, RANDOLPH AND FORSYTH COUNTIES. TOGETHER, THEY UNCOVERED A SOLICITATION OPERATION HAPPENING OUT OF AN UNLICENSED SPA CALLED GENTLE SPRING SPA AT A HOME LOCATED AT 1017 SOUTH CHURCH STREET IN BURLINGTON. WOMEN LIVED THERE, BUT WAS NEVER SEEN, HARDLY COMING OUTSIDE. HOWEVER. THERE WAS A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF MAIL TRAFFIC GOING INTO THE RESIDENCE, STAYING A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND THEN LEAVING. THE INVESTIGATORS ROWAN STARTED IN OCTOBER, BUT YOU, HAN LEE AND HUAN WANG WERE FOUND TO BE EXPLOITING PEOPLE SINCE 2021. THEY WERE ARRESTED TUESDAY, LEE ACTED AS THE BUSINESS OWNER AND WAS CHARGED WITH PROMOTING PROSTITUTION. WANG WAS CHARGED WITH PROSTITUTION AND SOLICITATION. THE SHERIFF’S SAY THEY INTEND TO UNCOVER MORE OPERATIONS JUST LIKE THIS ONE. ALL THROUGHOUT THEIR COUNTIES. YOU’RE GOING TO SEE A LOT OF RESULTS COME. WE’VE SEEN A LOT OF RESULTS NOW AND WE JUST STARTED AND IT’S JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG. AND THE AND THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAID THEY WERE MADE AWARE OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING AT THAT HOME IN BURLINGTON DUE TO PEOPLE SPEAKING UP. SO THEY ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO DO THE SAME. The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office said it’s investigating a prostitution ring. The sheriff said it was operating out of a home within the county. The sheriff’s office said they received tips of suspicious activity at a home in Burlington in October. They said the home was operating a business called Gentle Spring Spa. They said two women at the home on South Church Street in Burlington were rarely seen leaving the home and instead a lot of men were seen going into the residence and then leaving. Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson said they received help from the Invictus Project. We don’t need these type of crimes being committed in our counties,” Johnson said. The sheriff’s office said months after investigating, two women, including Yuhuan Li and Jun Wang, were found to be exploiting people since 2021. They were arrested on Tuesday. They said Li acted as the business owner and was charged with prostitution and solicitation.

Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson said they received help from the Invictus Project. That’s the newly formed Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force that consists of several sheriff’s offices in the area.

“We want it to stop, or we’re coming after you, simple as that. We don’t need these type of crimes being committed in our counties,” Johnson said.
