HERE ARE THE TOP STORIES WE’RE FOLLOWING TODAY. A JUVENILE IS FACING A NUMBER OF CHARGES AFTER MULTIPLE THREATS OF MASS VIOLENCE AGAINST WINSTON-SALEM FORSYTH COUNTY SCHOOLS. THE FORSYTH COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS THAT THE JUVENILE THREATENED TWO SCHOOLS WITHIN THE DISTRICT BETWEEN LAST SPRING AND THIS MONTH. DEPUTIES HAVE CHARGED THAT STUDENT WITH SIX COUNTS OF COMMUNICATING THREATS OF MASS VIOLENCE, ONE COUNT OF EXTORTION AND 13 COUNTS OF CYBERBULLYING. THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE DECLINED TO TELL US WHICH SCHOOLS WERE INVOLVED, SAYING THAT THEY NEED TO PROTECT THE IDENTITY OF THAT SUSPECT NEXT AND THIS WEEKEND IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO ENJOY ALL OF DOWNTOWN GREENSBORO GREENWAY UNTIL NEXT SUMMER. THE CITY SAYS THAT CREWS WILL START CONSTRUCTION ON THE LAST SECTION OF THE GREENWAY ON MONDAY. THE PATHWAY WILL BE CLOSED BETWEEN SMITH STREET AND SPRING GARDEN AND UNTIL NEXT SUMMER, ALSO BEGINNING MONDAY, THE GREENWAY WILL CLOSE FOR BRIDGE REPAIR WORK. WORK ON THAT

A Dunkin' Donuts employee has been charged with shooting a coworker in Chapel Hill Friday on East Franklin Street. Higgins is being held at the Orange County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond. A Dunkin' Donuts employee has been charged with shooting a coworker in Chapel Hill Friday on East Franklin Street.

Police arrived on the scene around 2:47 p.m.

Wesley Shamar Higgins, 23, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury
  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill
  • Discharge weapon into occupied property
  • Discharge firearm in city limits
  • Assault by pointing a gun (two counts)

Authorities took the victim to UNC Hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Higgins is being held at the Orange County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond.

His first appearance in court is scheduled for Monday at 2 p.m.

The victim has been treated and released from the hospital.
