IT’S THE WEEKEND THAT HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAMS HAVE HAVE BEEN FIGHTING TO GET TO ALL SEASON. A REMATCH OF LAST YEAR’S ONE, A STATE TITLE GAME, TARBORO LOOKING FOR REVENGE AGAINST MOUNT AIRY. Two Triad football teams, Mount Airy and Reidsville, managed to capture a state title on Saturday. Up first in the 1-A title game, the Granite Bears took down Tarboro 21-3 in Chapel Hill, marking their second straight state title, beating Tarboro both times.After trailing 3-0 at the half, three scores and a dominant defense secured the win for Mount Airy. Running back Tyler Mason was named the game's MVP. Up next, the 2-A title went to Reidsville. The Rams took down Clinton after losing the title game in 2022. Reidsville came out of the gate firing with 14 points in the first quarter and didn't turn back from there. Quarterback Al Lee received the game's MVP award.
