PACKAGE AWARD. PRETTY COOL. AN UPSCALE WINSTON SALEM RESTAURANT SERVED DINNER TO A CELEBRITY WHO HAS A STAR ON THE HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME. CAN YOU GUESS WHO? WELL, THAT’S HENRY WINKLER, BEST KNOWN AS THE FONZ FROM HAPPY DAYS. HE HAD DINNER WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT MOSELLE’S FRESH SOUTHERN BISTRO. HE WAS ACTUALLY IN TOWN PROMOTING HIS NEW BOOK. THE OWNER SAYS HIS ASSISTANT CALLED TO MAKE A RESERVATION ABOUT TWO HOURS BEFOREHAND AND HE COULDN’T HAVE BEEN NICER TO THE STAFF. IT WAS ALSO HIS WIFE’S BIRTHDAY. HE WAS SO FRIENDLY AND CHATTED EVERYBODY UP AND WAS SO FRIENDLY TO OUR STAFF. AND ONCE HE FINISHED DINNER, HE CAME THROUGH THE RESTAURANT AND WENT TO THE KITCHEN LINE AND SPOKE TO THE COOKS AND SAID, THANK YOU SO MUCH. AND HE LOVED EVERYTHING. AND HE MET ME AND HE WAS LIKE, OH MY GOODNESS, THIS WAS JUST WORLD CLASS. YOUR RESTAURANT IS WORLD CLASS. AND SO WE THOUGHT THAT WAS GREAT. THAT IS AWESOME. Over its 15 years, plenty of celebrities have eaten at Mozelle's Fresh Southern Bistro on West 4th Street in Winston-Salem. Owner Jennifer Smith tells WXII 12 News members of Paul McCartney's band, former House Speaker John Boehner, Jenna Bush, and Scott Pelley have all enjoyed meals at her restaurant. This week, she was able to add another big name to that list.Henry Winkler, best known for his portrayal of Fonzie on the hit TV show "Happy Days" in the 1970s and 80s, and who most recently played Gene Cousineau in the HBO dark comedy "Barry," was in town Wednesday promoting his new book. Smith said his assistant called the restaurant a few hours prior and asked if they could get a table because his wife was celebrating her birthday. Thankfully, Mozelle's was able to accommodate them."He was so friendly and chatted everybody up and was so friendly to our staff and once he finished dinner, he came through the restaurant and went to the kitchen line and spoke to the cooks and said, 'Thank you so much." He loved everything, and he met me, and he was like, 'Oh my goodness, this was just world class. Your restaurant is world class!' So, we thought that was great," Smith said.Winkler's table shared the tomato pie, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, salad, bread pudding, and coconut pie.When asked which celebrity she would be most excited to see in her restaurant, Smith said it would be thrilling to have Stephen Colbert dine at her establishment.
