These are the images forever seared in our minds of the brutal massacre of Jews by Hamas.
When these terrorists poured over the Gaza-Israel border last weekend, the barbarity of the attack, murders, and the taking of hostages was like nothing we have seen in modern times. There is no recent comparison to the scale of the hostage situation in the Gaza Strip. Children, known to be as young as 9 months old, older men and women with dementia, and whole families were forcibly taken from their homes as neighbors and loved ones were murdered all around them.
And while nothing we can do here in the Piedmont-Triad can bring back those that have been lost or slow down the death that will come from this war, we can do our part to help with the suffering. There are several organizations, including North Carolina-based Samaritan’s Purse, on the ground and in need of your monetary help right now. American Friends of Magen David Adom and the Israeli Red Cross are providing emergency and humanitarian services.
Save the Children is protecting boys and girls in Israel and Gaza, and the UJA Federation’s Israel Emergency Fund, is providing assistance for victims and trauma counseling. Along with Samaritan’s Purse, each can provide the help and hope so desperately needed in these dark days. You can find a link to donate to all of these on our website.
