Let's get the facts on the availability of the new COVID-19 vaccine updated COVID-19 vaccines began rolling out in September following approval from the Food and Drug Administration. But there are hiccups delaying their arrival at pharmacies around the country. So let's get the facts on what's happening and what's being done to make them available. There's only so much they can push out at any one time. Kurt Proctor, senior Vice president of strategic initiatives at the National Community. Pharmacist Association says distribution has change. Previous vaccine updates were distributed on behalf of the government going directly from manufacturers to pharmacies, but that's no longer the case. Now they come through *** wholesaler. Our national investigative unit checked with the centers for Disease control which said the situation is improving distribution and availability of the updated COVID-19 vaccine will continue to increase in the coming weeks. The National Pharmacy chains CV S and Walgreens told us the best way to check their supply is by scheduling in their apps CV S said it's receiving the vaccines on *** rolling basis but are experiencing delivery delays from our wholesalers. Walgreens did not mention any delivery setbacks. Kurt Proctor warned there's something else to watch with the free vaccine. Your insurance claim, we know those vaccines are supposed to have zero copay um no cost to the patient. So when they're coming back and saying the patient should be charged 100 and $80 or some price like that, we know that that claim is not being processed correctly. So that's *** problem. Meantime, as COVID-19 collides once again with cold and flu season, the US government is offering free COVID-19 round test for each household. But there's *** chance those tests will arrive with an expiration date that has already passed. Don't be quick to toss them out because the FDA extended many test expiration dates up to two years. You can either scan the QR code that comes on *** card with the test kits or head to FDA dot gov slash COVID test dates to check on how long they're good to use. And those are the facts in Washington DC. I'm Christopher Salis.
