Boston Red Sox icon David "Big Papi" Ortiz was known for delivering in the biggest moments while in the batter's box, so of course he would deliver on his promise to personally escort a Make-A-Wish recipient from Massachusetts around Fenway Park.In April, Ortiz was honored with the Make-A-Wish Hero Award during the 40th anniversary gala for Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Make-A-Wish revealed during the gala that 14-year-old Dominic Driscoll, of Middleborough, would have his wish granted and Ortiz surprised everyone by telling Dominic he would be the one to show him around Fenway on his wish day.Big Papi took Dominic into the Red Sox clubhouse and inside the Green Monster before Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ortiz also gave Dominic's family — mom, Kristen; dad, Bill; his older sister, Natalia; and his younger brother, Gabrien — the VIP tour of Fenway Park.Dominic also got to watch batting practice from the field before throwing out the ceremonial first pitch to Ortiz while wearing the custom Red Sox jersey gifted to him by the team.The Red Sox went on to defeat the Dodgers 8-5.Dominic, who has undergone three open heart surgeries, is one of the top baseball prospects in the country, according to Make-A-Wish. He hopes to be the first player with a congenital heart disease to be drafted by a Major League Baseball team.He also raises awareness and funding for congenital heart disease charities, a cause close to Big Papi's heart and the focus of The David Ortiz Children's Fund.Ortiz has granted 39 wishes through Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
