TODAY IS NATIONAL NIGHT OUT FOR CITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY, INCLUDING HERE IN THE TRIAD. THE INITIATIVE PROMOTES POLICE AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS. IT ACTUALLY STARTED BACK IN 1984. The city of Greensboro has about 125 sites for residents to meet with public safety and elected officials. The Davidson County Sheriff's Office and Thomasville Police Department will host events at the Thomasville Police Department.Winston-Salem Police will participate in a National Night Out event at Town and Country Recreation Center starting at 6 p.m. Deputies with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office will meet with community members at four locations, including Clemmons West Pool, Covington Park, Shallowford Square, and Runnymede Neighborhood.The Asheboro Police Department will host National Night Out at the Randolph-Asheboro YMCA with a splash pad, giveaways, food, music, and more.
