Don't attempt to drive on water-covered roads!10:30 a.m. - Showers and storms will continue to develop today, with the potential for a few storms to become strong to severe across the eastern half of NC where a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) is in place. The primary impacts with any severe weather that develops today will be damaging wind gusts and locally heavy downpours. However, a brief tornado cannot be ruled out during the afternoon and early evening hours.6:46 a.m. - A Flood Watch remains in effect for the mountains, foothills, and most of the Triad through early Friday morning. WEDNESDAY, JUNE 217:30 p.m. After a nice break from the rain this afternoon, more light to moderate showers are moving through Lexington, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Asheboro, Seagrove, and Mocksville. Heavy rain and storms are expected to develop during the morning commute through midday Thursday.9 a.m. - The summer solstice occurs at 10:57 a.m. today. Our average high this time of the year is 87 degrees Fahrenheit. While we won't be able to spot the sun due to heavy clouds and good rain chances, we have 14 hours, 36 minutes, and 50 seconds of daylight making this the longest day of the year.8:30 a.m. - Scattered light rain with pockets of moderate rain fell overnight and continue this morning. A Flood Watch remains in effect for the mountains and foothills through 6:00 p.m. Thursday. Creeks and streams will occasionally swell from increased runoff from steady rain. TUESDAY, JUNE 2011:50 p.m. - Areas of heavy to moderate rain showers are moving through the Piedmont Triad, Foothills, and Mountains with the risk for flooding and flash flooding through early Wednesday morning. 10:00 p.m. - More than 2,000 people are without power, according to Duke Energy. The outage was caused by an object coming into contact with our power lines. The estimated time of restoration is 10:15 p.m.9:45 p.m. - Rainfall totals are rising with rain spreading out over the Piedmont Triad.8:09 p.m. -There is a threat for flooding that may cause roads to wash out.7:45 p.m.- Heavy downpours and cloudy skies in Greensboro7:00 p.m.- Another wave of rain with pockets of heavy rain is moving through Burlington, Greensboro, and Asheboro. Expect ponding on the roads and keep rain gear handy this evening in the Piedmont Triad. While the Foothills and areas along the Blue Ridge Parkway are getting a brief rain break, they remain under a Flood Watch through Thursday evening. 6:15 p.m. - The threat for heavy rain may lead to isolated flash flooding across the western half of the state and continue statewide through the week. The greatest threat for scattered flash flooding statewide will be tomorrow, according to NC Emergency Management. 5:40 p.m. - A Flood Alert has been issued for locations shown on map including North Wilkesboro, Mount Airy and Galax. 5:00 p.m.- A video shows flooding in the Western part of North Carolina. Fast-moving water ran right through farmland and washed out a bridge in that area.4:30 p.m. - Check out the rain totals so far through Tuesday afternoon. 2:28 p.m.- A flood alert has been activated in some parts of the state.12:32 p.m. - There are more than 2,000 power outages in Yadkin Co. 11 a.m. - The risk for flooding rain is elevated in all zones this week.8:57 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. - Rockingham County is under a Flood Advisory until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after morning rain totals exceeded 1.5 inches in some parts of the area. High water may flood creeks and localized roads. Travel with caution.8:25 a.m. - Yadkin County is the county with the highest number of power outages, according to the Department of Public Safety. There are currently 2,120 outages. Duke Energy says majority of those outages won't restore until 3 p.m.8:10 a.m. - A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Patrick County until 1:00 p.m. Tuesday. Morning rain has caused flooding and ponding of water on several roadways. An estimated one to four inches of rain has fallen over Patrick County since Monday morning. An additional inch of rain is possible through early afternoon. Flash flooding is most likely to occur along small creeks and streams, urban streets, and low-lying areas.6:45 a.m. - Here's a picture this morning from North Wilkesboro around 6:45 a.m.! This is near Highway 115 & Fishing Creek Road. Wilkes County is one of several counties with a flood alert until Thursday night. Persistent rains are causing short-term flooding over several counties. Additional rain may create ponding of water on roads, in low spots, and near creeks and waterways this week.MONDAY, JUNE 196:31 p.m. - A Tornado Warning has been issued for Rowan County until 7:30 p.m. We are tracking this storm as it could impact the Piedmont Triad. 4:30 p.m. - A house fire is under investigation due to lightning strike, Forsyth County EMS says.Plus, storms develop as severe weather continues throughout the Triad.3:30 p.m. - A Flash Flood Alert has been issued for the locations shown on the map.3:15 p.m. - A Flood Watch has been issued for Ashe, Alleghany, Surry, Watauga and Wilkes counties until 6:00 p.m. Thursday.2:45 p.m. - A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Guilford County until 5:45 p.m. 2:40 p.m. - A Flood Watch has been issued for Grayson, Carroll, and Patrick counties until 6:00 p.m.1:53 p.m. - 7,201 power outages were reported in North Carolina with outages mostly in Charlotte and Durham.
