The federal indictment of former President Donald Trump's mishandling of classified documents was unsealed Friday.Trump wasn't the only defendant named in the indictment. Waltine Nauta, who goes by Walt for short, was also charged as Trump's co-conspirator.Who is Nauta?During Trump's presidency, Nauta was a member of the United States Navy, serving as a valet at the White House, according to the charging documents.Then in August 2021, Nauta became an executive assistant for Trump, acting as the former president's personal aide, or as he was referred to: Trump's "body man."As stated in the indictment, Nauta reported to Trump, working closely with him and even traveling with Trump on a number of occasions.So, how does Nauta factor into the indictment?According to the charging documents, Nauta, as directed by Trump, moved boxes of classified documents throughout Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in order to conceal them from Trump's attorneys, the FBI and the grand jury.Nauta faces six charges, including conspiracy to obstruct justice and concealing evidence, which holds a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, and knowingly making false statements to law enforcement, which comes with a maximum five-year prison sentence.Read the full federal indictment below:
