WE ARE NOW FOLLOWING BREAKING NEWS OUT OF WINSTON-SALEM POLICE SAY THAT A MAN DIED IN A DRIVE-BY SHOOTING. OFFICERS DID RESPOND TO A SHOTS FIRED CALL JUST AROUND MIDNIGHT. THIS WAS THERE AT THE INTERSECTION OF NORTHWEST BOULEVARD AND TRADE STREET ON THE WAY THEY DID LEARN THAT SOMEONE HAD BEEN SHOT. OFFICERS FOUND 30 YEAR OLD WILMER RAFAEL SUAREZ MONTOYA THERE ON THE SIDEWALK WITH MULTIPLE GUNSHOT WOUNDS. HE DIED THERE AT THE SCENE. INVESTIGATORS NOW BELIEVE THAT THE VICTIM WAS TARGETED BY SUSPECTS DRIVING BY IN A VEHICLE. TH

Winston-Salem police are investigating the city's 25th homicide of 2023.Officers were called to a shooting on Northwest Boulevard near Trade Street just before midnight Wednesday. They found 30-year-old Wilmer Rafael Suazo-Montoya lying on the sidewalk. Police said he was shot multiple times and died at the scene.Authorities said the victim was specifically targeted by people driving by in a vehicle.
