'Te’ore was love:' Winston-Salem mother remembers son killed on Valentine's Day two years ago
A mother of a Winston-Salem man killed is asking the community for help in finding out what happened to her son 2 years ago on Valentine's Day.
At 8:01 a.m. on February 14th, 2021, Winston-Salem Police Department found 35-year-old Te’ore Terry lying face down with a gunshot wound in a parking lot off Coliseum Drive. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
Now 2 years later, no arrests have been found. Te'ore's mom, Velma is asking on this day of love, for answers for her son who she says loved so much.
“Te’ore was love, Te’ore was a gentle giant, Te’ore loved family. He loved his job. He loved CVS, he loved people," Velma Terry said.
Velma said she now has a broken heart and thinks about her son every day, especially when she comes to the location he died.
“Every time I come here, it's like a breeze that goes by and is like, a comforting breeze is like.. Te’ore says that he's alright and I'm gonna be all right," Velma said.
Now, Velma is urging the Winston-Salem community to stop gun violence.
“I just want this violence to stop. I just want this killing to stop, you know, it’s not all about my son, it’s about all these sons that are dying and all these children that are here killing one another. For what? Leaving mothers without their children's, children without their fathers, siblings without their siblings," Velma said.
Velma added that, "Te’ore had a bright future and someone just made a decision and just take it. Who does that? Who does that? I just want it to stop."
WSPD said detectives continue to investigate this case and that no arrests have been made yet.
Velma said she just wants answers. "If you know something, please tell. There is a reward. If you call Crimestoppers, there is a reward. You can be anonymous. You don't have to give your name. Just tell it so we can get some comfort. So we can get a little peace," Velma said.
“Justice will be served. Justice will be served. You can run but you can’t hide. I believe in God and God got it," Velma said.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers at 336-727-2800. You can also file a tip online here.
