IN GUILFORD COUNTY, THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS A MAN AT THE CENTER OF A STANDOFF EARLIER THIS WEEK WILL BE CHARGED. AUTHORITIES SAY DEPUTIES WENT TO A HOME ON BEETLE DRIVE IN GREENSBOROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON TO EXECUTE A SEARCH WARRANT. THE PERSON WHO LIVED THERE LATER IDENTIFIED AS VANCE BRITT, THEY SAY, REFUSED TO ANSWER THE DOOR. DEPUTIES EVENTUALLY WENT INSIDE, AT WHICH TIME THEY CLAIM BRITT FIRED AT THEM. HE HAS BEEN HOSPITALIZED, BUT WE’RE TOLD THE INJURY THAT HE SUFFERED WAS NOT A GUNSHOT. ONCE HE’S RELEASED, HE WILL FACE MULTIPLE CHARGES. THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE ADDED THAT NONE O

The Guilford County Sheriff's Office said a man fired shots at deputies during a standoff after deputies forced their way into a house. Deputies tried to serve a search warrant at a home on Beatle Drive at 1:45 p.m. Thursday but someone in the house would not let them inside. The sheriff's office said when that person stopped communicating with them, deputies forced their way into the house and saw a man with a gun.
