YOUR TIME IS NOW 640 THIS MORNING AND WE KNOW THE STEVEN TANGER CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS IS CONTINUING ITS BROADWAY SEASON WITH THIS AWARD WINNING MUSICAL. YOU SEE IT BEHIND ME HERE, CATS. OF COURSE IT IS THE FIRST BROADWAY SHOW OF THE YEAR FOR THE TANGER CENTER. AND IT’S HOPING TO NOT ONLY BRING ENTERTAINMENT TO THE COMMUNITY, BUT ALSO HELP OUT SHELTERS IN A NEW COLLABORATION OF VICTORIA. LUCAS JOINS US NOW IN STUDIO TO EXPLAIN. CHRISTINA AND JACKIE, THE STEVEN AT TANGER CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS IS PARTNERING WITH THE TRIAD INDEPENDENT CAT RESCUE AS THE BROADWAY MUSICAL CATS DEBUTS THIS WEEK. ACTORS IN THE BROADWAY SHOW WERE ABLE TO PLAY AND SPEND TIME WITH SOME OF THE RESCUE CATS AS THEY PREPARED TO TAKE THEIR FORM ON STAGE. ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER IS MUSICAL, TELLS THE STORY OF A MAGICAL NIGHT WHERE A TRIBE OF CATS ARE INVITED TO A BALL TO THEN WAIT TO SEE WHO WILL BE CHOSEN TO BE REBORN. I HAD THE CHANCE TO SPEAK WITH TWO OF THE ACTORS WHO WILL PLAY CASSANDRA AND SHANKS, ALONG WITH EXECUTIVES AT THE TRIAD INDEPENDENT CAT RESCUE. THEY ALL TELL ME THIS WEEK IS FITTING AND TO PROMOTE THE NEED FOR CAT ADOPTIONS AND HIGHLIGHT THE CHALLENGES THE RESCUES IN OUR COMMUNITIES ARE FACING. WITH US PLAYING CATS, IT’S ONLY RIGHT THAT WE ARE SPENDING SOME TIME WITH SOME CATS, ESPECIALLY WITH OUR CHARACTERS IN THE SHOW. WE HAVE TO REALLY EDUCATE OURSELVES ON HOW THEY’RE MOVING BECAUSE WE’RE NOT MOVING LIKE HUMANS. IN THIS SHOW. WE HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO ACTUALLY MOVE LIKE CATS. REALISTICALLY, WE CAN GET UP TO 30 TO 50 EMAILS AND MESSAGES ON OUR FACEBOOK A DAY FROM PEOPLE TRYING TO REHOME CATS OR THEY FOUND A CAT. THEY CAN’T KEEP IT, OR THEIR CAT GOT PREGNANT. THEY GOT KITTENS. IT’S VERY OVERWHELMING. AMY ROSELLA, WHO YOU JUST HEARD THEIR ADS WITH THE CURRENT CAPACITY, RIGHT? A CAT CAN COME IN TO A SHELTER BUT MAY NOT MAKE IT OUT, BUT TRY IT. INDEPENDENT CAT RESCUE IS ACCEPTING ADOPTIONS EVERY SATURDAY FROM NOON TO THREE AT THE PETSMART LAWNDALE CROSSING SHOPPING CENTER AND IN GREENSBORO, THE CATS MUSICAL IS AT THE TANK CENTER. ALL THIS WEEK AND INTO THE WEEKEND WE’LL HAVE SHOWTIMES POSTED ON OUR WEBSITE AT WXII 12 DOT COM LIVE IN STUDIO VICTORIA
