22-year-old woman reunites with firefighters who helped deliver her at birth
ONE WOMAN WHO WAS BORN AT A WINSTON-SALEM FIRE STATION IS MEETING HER HEROES. THE FIREFIGHTERS WHO DELIVERED HER HOURS AND HER ACEVEDO SHOWS US WHAT HAPPEND. OKAY. AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE MOM SAID, THE BABY’S COMING. AND I DROVE AND CAUGHT IT BACK OF OUR MINDS. WE STILL WAITING FOR EMS. WE WILL HEAR. NO, SORRY. COME. COME AND FIND OUT. THEY MADE A WRONG TURN. SO THAT GAVE US TIME TO DO OTHER THINGS. I MEAN, WE END UP CUTTING THE CORD, PLACING THE BABY IN FOIL. YOU KNOW, MAKING SURE THE BABY’S BREATHING. WE KEPT THE AIRWAY. SO WE HAD SOME PLAYTIME WITH THE BABY. SO THAT WAS. THAT WAS REAL SPECIAL. THE LAST MAN WE WERE ABLE TO WRAP UP. AND I GOT TO HOLD HER ALL THE WAY, THE HOSPITAL. AND WHEN WE GOT TO THE HOSPITAL, THE PARAMEDICS WERE, YOU KNOW, BRAGGING ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE E.R. THAT THE FIREMAN HAD TO DELIVER THE BABY. AND IT WAS A GOOD WAY TO KICK OFF A LONG WEEKEND. I’D NEVER SEEN PICTURES OF ME AS A BABY, AND I NEVER HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT ME AT BIRTH. NOW, LET’S FIRST OF ALL. SO TODAY WILL BE THE FIRST DAY OF HEARING EVERYTHING ABOUT THAT, ABOUT MY BIRTH. I’M SPEECHLESS, REALLY. I KNOW OUR LIVES DON’T HAPPEN. WHAT? I’M EXCITED AND HAPPY FOR WHEN I GOT THIS CALL FROM FROM ARE ABOUT BEING ABLE TO DO THIS TODAY. OH, GOSH. IT WAS UNREAL, BECAUSE WE NEVER GET TO SEE ANYBODY WORTHY THEIR HOME RECALL OR ANYTHING LIKE IT. WE NEVER GET TO FIND OUT HOW THEY COME OUT. AND THIS IS 22 YEARS LATER. SO THEY’RE IN THE CARRIED YOU WITH THE BABY. OH, I LOVE THAT STORY. IT’S SUCH A BEAUTIFUL STORY. IT IS SO NICE TO HEA
