TO START THE WEEK. JACQUELINE. BUT WE ARE KEEPING OUR EYES ON THE FORECAST FOR THE END OF THIS WEEK. YEAH, THEY USED TO BE CHALLENGING. ONCE THE FAIR GETS GOING HERE, SO THAT’S OUR BIG CONCERN. YEAH, WE’RE WATCHING THE FORECAST VERY CLOSELY. A LOT CAN CHANGE BETWEEN NOW AND THEN. OF COURSE, WE ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE THAT, ESPECIALLY WITH THE SYSTEM THAT LOOKS LIKE THIS. HERE’S A LOOK AT HOW SETUP IS GOING AT THE CAROLINA CLASSIC FAIR, THOUGH WE’VE GOT SOME BEAUTIFUL FOR YOU BEFORE SUNRISE IS AROUND THE AREA. WE WOULD LOVE IT IF YOU WOULD SEND PICTURES OF WHATEVER YOU’RE SEEING. WE’D LOVE TO FEATURE THAT ON AIR BECAUSE I’M BETTING THAT THERE ARE SOME REALLY NICE VIEWS OUT THERE THIS MORNING. HERE’S A LOOK AT TEMPERATURES. WE’RE IN THE MID TO UPPER FIFTIES, SO MAYBE GRAB THE LAYER BEFORE YOU HEAD OUT TO TAKE THE PICTURE. DO POINTS ARE IN THE MID FIFTIES AS WELL. SO IT FEELS LIKE FALL, IT FEELS LIKE FAIR SEASON AS WE HEAD INTO THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS. WINDS AT TEN MILES PER HOUR IN THE TRIAD COMING FROM THE WEST. TEMPERATURES GET INTO THE UPPER SEVENTIES, 77 DEGREES IS ACTUALLY OUR AVERAGE FOR TODAY. SO WE ARE PERFECTLY NORMAL. YESTERDAY WE WERE AT 80 DEGREES THAT WE’RE STARTING TO SEE THOSE TEMPERATURES FALL. THAT TREND WILL CONTINUE THIS WEEK, 75 DEGREES IS OUR HIGH FOR THE FOOTHILLS TODAY. AND IN THE MOUNTAINS I’M FORECASTING A HIGH OF 64 DEGREES. SUNNY SKIES. THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE HERE IS THAT WINDS ARE 10 TO 25 MILES PER HOUR IN THE HIGH COUNTRY. SO BREEZIER AND A COUPLE OF CLOUDS OUT THERE TO START THE DAY. HERE’S A LOOK AT OUR WEATHER PATTERN. OUR TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO FALL OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. THIS WEEK, WE’LL LARGELY SEE TEMPERATURES BELOW NORMAL BY ABOUT 5 TO 10 DEGREES. WE START OFF WITH SUN, BUT BY MIDWEEK WE START TO SEE THOSE CLOUDS BUILDING AND THEY CONTINUE BUILDING THROUGH LATE WEEK AND THEN SOME HEAVY RAIN IS POSSIBLE AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE WEEKEND. HERE’S A LOOK AT OUR FORECAST HIGHS AGAIN YESTERDAY WAS 80, SO WE’RE ALREADY KIND OF ON THAT DOWNWARD TREND, 77 TODAY. ALL THE WAY DOWN TO 66 BY THURSDAY, FRIDAY LOOKING TO BE ABOUT 15 DEGREES COOLER THAN NORMAL. SO WE’RE LOOKING AT LOW SIXTIES BY THAT POINT AND WILL STAY DRY FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. I WILL TELL YOU THURSDAY, KIND OF A QUESTION MARK. WE’RE EXPECTING IT TO BE DRY AT THIS POINT, BUT WE COULD PULL IN SOME TROPICAL MOISTURE EVEN AS EARLY AS THURSDAY. THE RAIN THAT WE’VE GOT FOR FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY IS BECAUSE OF HURRICANE IAN. THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE RIGHT NOW. WE’VE GOT WINDS AT 75 MILES PER HOUR. SO IT JUST BECAME A HURRICANE ABOUT 5 A.M. TODAY. AND WE ARE EXPECTING IT TO RAPIDLY INTENSIFY EVEN OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS AND THROUGHOUT THE DAY. SO IT HITS CUBA AS A MAJOR HURRICANE, A CATEGORY THREE OR HIGHER IS A MAJOR HURRICANE. AND THEN IT HUGS THAT FLORIDA COASTLINE LINE AS A CATEGORY FOUR, 140 MILE PER HOUR WINDS. I WOULD ADVISE YOU NOT TO GET TOO HUNG UP ON THE CATEGORY THAT IT WILL BE AT LANDFALL BECAUSE A CATEGORY FOUR HURRICANE JUST OFF THE COASTLINE IS GOING TO BRING SOME SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS. WIND SPEEDS WILL REACH TROPICAL STORM STATUS AS EARLY AS TUESDAY FOR SOUTHERN FLORIDA. WE’LL SEE THAT HEAVY RAIN AND ALSO STORM SURGE, THAT OCEAN WATER PUSHING UP TO THE COASTLINE. AND AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE LATER PART OF THE WEEK, EXPECTING THAT LANDFALL TO OCCUR, EXPECTING IMPACTS TO REACH US, WE HEAD INTO THE LATER PART OF THE WEEK AS WELL. REMEMBER THAT CONE I WAS SHOWING YOU? THAT’S A MEASUREMENT OF WHERE THE CENTER OF THE STORM WILL BE. YOU CAN EXPERIENCE IMPACTS FAR BEYOND THE CONE. SO THIS IS THE SATURDAY LOCATION THE CENTER OF THE STORM BUT. WE COULD BE SEEING IMPACTS AGAIN. WE’RE EXPECTING THEM BY FRIDAY. AT THIS POINT. YOU CAN SEE THAT. WE STILL HAVE SOME QUESTIONS, THOUGH. WHAT WILL BE THE STRENGTH OF THE STORM WHEN IT ARRIVES WILL STILL BE A TROPICAL STORM? OR ARE WE TALKING ABOUT A TROPICAL DEPRESSION? WHAT WILL THE SIZE BE AND HOW MUCH RAIN WILL IT STILL HAVE AT THAT POINT? AND ALSO WHICH PATH EXACTLY WILL IT TAKE? THOSE ARE ALL QUESTIONS WE HAVE TO ANSWER BETWEEN NOW AND THEN. HERE’S WHAT WE’RE THINKING AT THIS POINT. FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, ENOUGH RAIN THAT’LL IMPACT YOUR WEEKEND PLANS. THURSDAY, THAT BREEZE WILL PICK UP AND EVEN SEEING THOSE CLOUDS BY WEDNESDAY. STAY WITH US. THIS IS GOING TO BE A FORECAST YOU’LL WANT TO WATCH.
