Winston-Salem's Milton Rhodes Center prepares to open featured exhibit ahead of Juneteenth
As Juneteenth approaches, WXII 12 News got a first look into a unique experience happening in the Piedmont Triad that places a focus on global unity.
The upcoming "When the Revolution Comes" exhibit by Owen Daniels will be featured at the Milton Rhodes Center in Winston-Salem.
Daniels said his vision was to take people on a journey with a visual component that engages conversation through "a photo album of transformation."
Visuals from protests on House Bill 2 and other social justice issues are represented, Daniels said.
"It talks about protests from various different ways so the public gets an opportunity to kind of look back a little bit like looking through the photo album and say, 'oh, I remember being here. I remember this particular thing.' That is why it's very important and it leads into from protest to freedom into June 19," Daniels said.
The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County is hosting this free event, which kicks off with an opening reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday.
The exhibit runs through Aug. 27.
