WHAT’S THE PRIORITY FOR YOU TO BRING TO THE FOREFRONT? AN OFFICE THE TOP PRIORITY SHOULD BE GETTING THIS VIRUS UNDER CONTROL. WE HAVE GOT TO GET KIDS BACK TO SCHOOL GET PEOPLE BACK TO WORK GET OUR BUSINESSES OPEN AND GET OUR ECONOMY GOING AGAIN, AND THAT IS ONLY GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN WE GET THE VIRUS UNDER CONTROL AND PEOPLE FEEL SAFE GETTING BACK TO THEIR NORMAL LIVES. AND KATHY MANNING AS WE ACROSS THE NATION AND CONTINUE TO LOOK AT THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE. SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN UP WATCHING VERY CLOSELY. I’M SURE YOU’VE BEEN WATCHING TOO. IT IS STILL UNDECIDED PRESIDENT TRUMP CAME OUT OVERNIGHT TO TELL SUPPORTERS THAT HE WANTS VOTE-COUNTING TO STOP AND HE IS GOING TO THE SUPREME COURT ON THIS. WHAT IS YOUR TAKE AS THESE VOTES CONTINUE TO BE COUNTED THAT IS NOT UNEXPECTED. WE KNOW THAT WE HAD RECORD TURNOUT ALL ACROSS THIS COUNTRY AND EVERY VOTE SHOULD BE COUNTED WHETHER PEOPLE VOTED BY MAIL BECAUSE OF THIS VIRUS THAT HE FAILED TO GET UNDER CONTROL OR YOU VOTED DURING RECORD TURNOUT FOR EARLY VOTING OR THEY VOTED YESTERDAY. WE NEED TO HAVE THE PATIENCE TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERY VOTE IS COUNTED. AND LASTLY I KEPT EVEN YOU TOO YOU’VE RUN BEFORE AND I WANT TO FIND OUT FROM YOU WHEN YOU COMPARE WHEN YOU RAN BEFORE AND COMPARING TO RUNNING THIS TIME, OF COURSE A VICTORY IS ALWAYS GOOD, BUT WHAT WAS THE DIFFERENCE FOR YOU THIS TIME AROUND IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC? WELL, FIRST OF ALL, I’D LIKE TO SAY IT’S SO WONDERFUL TO BE RUNNING IN THIS NEWLY DRAWN SIXTH DISTRICT THIS TRIAD DISTRICT BY DISTRICT THAT MAKES SENSE AND THE DIFFERENCE IN THE EARLY PART OF THE ELECTION BEFORE THE PRIMARY. OF COURSE. WE GOT OUT ALL OVER THIS DISTRICT MEETING WITH PEOPLE IN PERSON ONCE WE WENT INTO SHUTDOWN AFTER THE PRIMARY WE HAD TO BE CREATIVE ABOUT GETTING OUT TO MEET PEOPLE ON ZOOM WITH PHONE CALLS. I THINK WE DID MORE THAN 240 ZOOM EVENTS. AND WE GOT OUT TO MEET WITH PEOPLE WHEN IT WAS SAFE WHEN WE COULD WEAR MASKS AND BEAUTIFUL OR SOCIALLY DISTANCED AND OF COURSE WE HAD THAT GREAT DRIVING RALLY AT THE GREENSBORO COLISEUM PARKING LOT THIS PAST WEEKEND WHERE PEOPLE STAYED IN THEIR CARS AND KEPT THEIR MASKS ON AND SOCIALLY DISTANCE, BUT WE WERE ABLE TO TO MEET AND GREET TOGETHER IN A NEW AND DIFFERENT WAY NEW AND DIFFERENT WAY FOR SURE. Kathy Manning is the representative-elect for the 6th Congressional District seat, which now covers Winston-Salem, Greensboro and High Point because redistricting has combined voters in Guilford and Forsyth counties.Manning spoke to WXII 12 News Wednesday after her election win. She says her first priority for herself, while in office, is getting the virus under control."We have got to get kids back to school and people back to work and our businesses open. That is only going to happen when we get the virus under control and people feel safe getting back to their normal lives," Manning said.Wednesday, Manning also acknowledged the record voter turnout this election season and believes everything deserves a count."We need to have the patience to make sure every vote is counted."
