Kara Peters
Weekend Anchor/ReporterKara Peters is thrilled to join the WXII News Team! She is a native of Suffolk, Virginia; but was born in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Prior to joining WXII, Kara worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor at the Hearst station in Jackson, Mississippi. While there, she covered a range of different topics, such as Jackson’s water crisis, crime, and the closure of the state’s only abortion clinic amid Roe v. Wade overturning.
Kara graduated from the University of Virginia, where she double-majored in Media Studies and American Studies. She is a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
In her free time, Kara enjoys spending time with friends and family, trying new places to eat, and playing with her dog Minnie.
