Chanel Porter has made her way back to the East Coast. The Maryland native was a turned Midwestern to kick off her career and is now happy to call Winston-Salem, NC home. Prior to joining WXII 12 News in the fall of 2023, Chanel worked for ABC 17 in Columbia, MO for nearly three years. With limited sports openings during the COVID-19 pandemic, Chanel started out on the news side of the spectrum as a Multimedia Journalist before being promoted to the station's weekend evening anchor/producer. From the news role, Chanel quickly transitioned to the sports world. During her time covering sports in Missouri, Chanel was apart of coverage for a Chiefs Super Bowl win, the 2023 NFL Draft, following Mizzou to the SEC men's basketball tournament and more. Those who know Chanel outside of work, know her strong passion for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lion. Chanel was a multi-sport athlete in college playing both volleyball and softball at Penn State Fayette University for two years, before transferring to University Park, Penn State where she was able to cover football and basketball for the Nittany Lions.  When not on your TV, Chanel enjoys fitness. She is a fitness instructor and enjoys finding a nice trail for a hike. She also enjoys a good book and is looking forward to a lot of beach trips in the near future.
